As a Christian, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.

So for many, that question has been, why do we celebrate with an Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs?

After researching, I found a few stories and thought you would enjoy them.

The Easter Bunny's origins are all different and go back many centuries.

The Easter Bunny has nothing to do with the celebration of Jesus, nor do Easter Eggs or even fluffy little chicks. Nothing has ever been found in the bible to prove otherwise.

The one thing that Jesus and the Bunny have in common is that they represent "New Life."

The first concept of the Easter Bunny stems from pagan rituals. A hare and eggs symbolized the pagan goddess of fertility (Eostre). It was believed that when missionaries spread Christianity throughout Europe. They combined the pagan spring rituals with Easter and the resurrection, making the transition to Christianity easier.

Hares And Bunnys?

So here is a journey I took 3,000 years ago, in a documentary sharing that in Ancient Mesopotamia and Syria, The hare symbolized death and rebirth to these ancient people. Over time the associations made with hares shifted to rabbits because they have many of the same characteristics.

Many hares and bunnies - linked to death and rebirth were depicted on gravestones. Christians during this time also accepted the bunny on their monuments as well.

So as you can see, there has been a long-standing of hares and bunnies with death-rebirth. As for Christians, it would be "the resurrection of Jesus.

So as we can see, "Jesus" is not relatively related to "The Easter Bunny," They both are connected to the celebration of the resurrection and are considered to represent New Life.

After reading all the above information, I found an interesting article stating that a lamb symbolized Jesus.

With reference to that, it stated that the lamb represents Christ as both suffering and triumphant. The lamb is typically sacrificial and may symbolize gentleness, innocence and purity. When depicted with the Lion, the pair can mean a state of paradise.

Also, the lamb symbolizes sweetness, forgiveness and humility.

The lamb (the weak little animal) is one of the tops of the Christian faith and is present throughout salvation history.

In Conclusion

God would want us happy.

As I walked through the mall and looked in the windows, I saw beautiful pastel easter baskets: stuffed bunnies, Chicks and even lambs. Colourful easter eggs and many treats brought me so much joy. Many moms, dads, and small children were filled with joy as they shopped.

Pretty little dresses were being tried on, little suits with bow ties.

The memories of my childhood came to mind. A giant chocolate bunny, a basket full of eggs, skipping rope, a bouncing ball and a beautiful dress our mother made for us;

With white purses, white Easter bonnets and, white gloves, a beautiful dress, we were ready to go to Church and celebrate,

The day was filled with family, Gathering together at my grandparent's house, and many cousins to play with and celebrate.

The food was phenomenal. The love lingered throughout the house.

To this very day, those memories bring me the most joy.

We shared them with our family as they grew up and hope they, too, can do the same.

As for this weekend, we might not have many to celebrate with, but we do have something to celebrate.

Rejoice, enjoy, and dont forget to pick up a lovely chocolate bunny or a few little Easter eggs,

Thank you, Jay, you better put those carrots out there for those bunnies; we have those coyotes; they are staying in the cemetery; I think someone is feeding them; Hoppy Easter,

Hi Chatty~Cathy: You tell an entailed-swiggley-bunny-tale. So lovely that, as a creative writer, you have the ability to Switch-Gears and archive 'Favorite' topics that are meaningful to you; as most of us do. I know most prefer 'Easter Peeps'...but, if it ain't chocolate, why bother! I have a circular driveway that's covered with 'Bunnies' every day. But, I can't feed them because of the 'Coyotes.' Sadly, survival of the fittest. I touch on that in my 'FIRED' Schpiel! Happy Easter | Pesach Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, Cal 'Senior' Vocal Author
