The Night When Union Came to an End. Content Warning.
The rain began just after sunset, soft at first—like a whisper brushing against the windows. Emma stood by the glass, her fingers tracing invisible patterns as her breath fogged the cold surface. Tonight felt different. Heavy. Final. As if the air itself knew something her heart was trying to deny.

Faith, Family, Education, and Pacific Islander Pride, Honoring Every Path and Every Generation
When people think about success, they often picture walking across a graduation stage, earning a diploma, or reaching one major milestone. This year, my niece and I both earned our bachelor’s degrees, and while we chose not to walk the stage, that decision does not take away from what we accomplished. For us, this moment is bigger than one ceremony. It is about faith, family, sacrifice, and everything it took to get here.

Dear Son...We Kinda Need to Talk
Dear son, Twenty-two years ago, your mother gave birth to you. I love you more than life itself, which makes this letter particularly painful to write, because it is, in essence, an apology. According to your mother, you could do no wrong if you tried. Then again, what would you expect from the mother of a brat?

No good deed...
I was looking after my parents’ house and their many pets while they were away for six months. Though I am somewhat lax in tending to the needs of my own house, I’ve always been very particular in taking care of theirs. Daily vacuuming and dusting, floor washing twice a week, keeping the vegetable garden weeded…those sorts of things. I am fanatical and particular about it, maybe because I’m afraid I’ll be in trouble if I don’t measure up. Shades of childhood.

The Silent Sacrifice of a Faithful Woman. Content Warning. AI-Generated.
The rain fell softly against the window, tracing quiet paths down the glass like tears that had long forgotten how to stop. Inside the small, dimly lit room, Elira sat beside the bed, her fingers gently wrapped around her husband’s frail hand. His breathing was shallow, uneven—like a candle struggling against the wind.

The Torn Collar of a Mother and the Cruel Game of Fate. Content Warning.
The wind howled through the narrow alleys of the village, carrying dust and sorrow with it. Inside a small, crumbling house at the edge of the road, a mother sat quietly, her back bent not by age, but by the weight of life. Her name was Zainab.

Things Liberian Parents Say and Do to Their Children . Content Warning.
We all know that parents aren't perfect. They're definitely not saints either. However, whenever they do things that are unbecoming, we need to call them out on it. I was born to two Liberian parents, who I've been estranged from for nearly 15 years and yes, I was born here. The following entries on this list will go over some of the things I've noticed growing up were not only ridiculous, but outlandish. Since I'm estranged from the two people who were supposed to love and support me, I don't care if they get their feelings hurt if they were to run into their story. This story will stay up and if they were to run into this story and are offended by the things I've said, again, I don't care. Other than that, let's get on to the list.
