Humanity begins at home.
Edensgate
I was punished today because I refused to make my bed when I was ordered to. After lessons, I was sent to The Birches with no dinner for “quiet time” where I was to reflect on my behaviour and read passages from the teachings. It was cold in The Birches. There was one long, narrow, dank, damp room, with rows upon rows of single, metal framed beds, all covered in rough, heavy grey blankets. Along one end, there were three desks. The windows were painted black, with imposing vertical iron bars fixed across them, leaving us in no doubt that the outside world was not available to us. This was where the disobedient were sent.

How to (Not) Host Your Baby’s First Birthday Party --or Smoked Cherry Cake for Everyone
As a young mom, I set the bar pretty high for birthday celebrations. Not realizing how many children we would have and how many extravagant celebrations that would add up to over the years, I started out with grand illusions about the best birthday parties ever. Well, five children and almost three decades later, I still enjoy planning a great birthday. Unfortunately however, I have put myself through way too much mom guilt over this birthday party thing through the years. The worst example was when we F I N N N A L L Y celebrated my son’s long anticipated tenth birthday with a very amazing Spy birthday party……. On his eleventh birthday. If that’s not enough to make you cringe, I don't know what is. He absolutely loved the party and appreciated all the work I put into it. He said he didn’t even mind that it was a year late. Sometimes, during a rough week, I still allow myself to feel bad about that ridiculous delay.

Dope Real Everything I Am
"Complete opposite lifestyle, but the same love, heart, mind and everything else to and for each other. We started at our lowest points and I never knew what we would turn out to be, but ever since then I am full with you. I love you and everything you are to me, forever times infinity."

In The Mouse's House
IN The Mouse’s House WL 2006 I was blessed to spend the first twenty years of my life working alongside and with my father. He was a commercial waste hauler. He taught me how to work. He taught me how to treat other people. He taught me honesty. Most importantly without teaching me he was one thing a lot of my friends did not have growing up. He was there for me. In the 1950's and 60's my brother Jim and I worked with dad before and after school. As youngsters we often found ourselves pared with hired help. Brother John was a bit younger and smaller. He compounded that by being quiet and shy. This was something he eventually grew out of, This is in no way a put down of John by any means. He went on to be the absolute best all around athlete in the family as well as garnering outstanding academic accomplishments at the U of Minnesota. As a result of his size and age dad never required him to work on a regular basis like Jim and I and later David whose work ethic and dedication or desire to contribute in a positive manner came by choice. David’s work ethic in the family is legend.

Trayvon, five to life
Trayvon Five To Life WL 828 Wow! apartments, apartments one after another, rows and rows of ‘em. And all, every one with so much garbage. Dump all these containers today, return the day after tomorrow and they're full again. But, Hey! “Keep’s the paycheck comin’”!

The Sound of Silence
The song echoes in my mind. One of the best things about songs is the few words that are chosen well can convey huge emotions and mountains of feelings. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel taught us all about life by mesmerizing us with the beauty and depth of feelings.

selfless love
I think I can, I think I can, I am the little engine that could, being born in Baltimore city to an alcoholic mother that loved me dearly, but love the drinking a little more and an absent birth father, who as he put it when he finally called was that he was living that street life, so he stayed away to protect me and my sister who was two of my birth mothers the seven children that belong to him. This was the beginning of my life from birth to five months, living with my mother and three of my older siblings at my grandmother’s house. when I was five months old my mother decided to fulfill a promise that she made to a lady in a drunken state but with the most clarity she had in her heart, she wanted better for us and it all started with me. It was a turning point for all the people involved which included my mother, me ,the children she bore after me the lady I was given to, her husband, and their six children, extend family members, my husband, my in-laws,and my children. That day, even though I was five months old was the best manifestation of true love of a mother for her child. She truly wanted better for me and her other children and she knew she could not give us the life she desired for us, so she selflessly gave us to some so special with the most amazing heart a human could possess, That day she took me to a little tavern bundled up in a small car seat, where the lady who fed her for the nine months she was pregnant with me worked, and told her I promised you a gift, set my car seat on the counter turn around and left that was the beginning of the life that shaped who I am today.

SON, YOU MADE DAADA PROUD!
SON, YOU MADE DAADA PROUD! A couple of weeks back, my darling wife had been pestering me to please come over to my son's school (where she teaches) to come and take the pupils through "Origami" (a Japanese art of folding paper into different objects).

Un-Rhyll
To my favourite 'Chio'! When I look back at all we have shared in over the years, it is simply mind-blowing! It all started during our teens in the days of the ol' 'telling bone' (phone for those of you not au fait with Cockney slang). Wow! That was roughly four decades ago and may I emphasise the roughly? Not from a time-line point of view but for the shenanigans we got up to 'back in the day'. I have forever been grateful for our friendship ever since and how you initiated the phone call to my home just because you liked me and thought I'd make a good friend. You have always been a good judge of character. Ha ha ha !!!
