AREWA MY DAUGHTER
It was a bright Thursday morning... The students of Lasfaye Community Academy just filed into their classes after the usual Morning Assembly routine. The S.S 3 students (the most senior class) in the school were the last to leave the assembly ground as usual. They sang the marching song with a renewed vigour after they had been threatened by one of the strictest male teachers in the school that if they refused to sing and march the way they should, they would spend the rest of the day under the sun. Having heard that, they dumped their proud and arrogant spirit and sang like their whole lives depended on it.

As I reflect upon my childhood, which lacked the presence of a father figure, I realize the profound impact it had on my life. Married for 17 years, it is only now that I truly comprehend the importance of introspection.

The Birth Of A Second Child (10 Challenges Faced By Families)
The Birth of the Second Child 10 Challenges Faced by Families Welcoming a second child into the family is a significant and transformative event. While it brings joy and excitement, it also presents unique challenges that can put a strain on the family dynamic. In this article, we will explore ten reasons why the birth of the second child can be a difficult time for families. Understanding these challenges can help parents better navigate this transitional period and find ways to support each other and their growing family. Adjusting to New Roles and Responsibilities With the arrival of a second child, parents must adapt to new roles and responsibilities. The dynamics shift as they divide their attention between two children, often juggling the needs of a newborn while still caring for their older child. This adjustment can be overwhelming, requiring parents to find a balance that meets the needs of both children and themselves. Sleep Deprivation and Exhaustion Newborns typically require frequent nighttime care, leading to disrupted sleep patterns for both parents. Sleep deprivation can have a profound impact on overall well-being, affecting mood, cognitive function, and the ability to cope with daily challenges. The exhaustion experienced during this period can create additional stress and strain on the family. Financial Pressures Expanding the family often brings increased financial responsibilities. The costs of childcare, education, and daily expenses multiply with the addition of a second child. Balancing the budget, planning for future needs, and ensuring financial stability can become sources of stress for parents, impacting their overall well-being and family dynamics. Sibling Rivalry and Adjustment The birth of a second child introduces a new dynamic to the family, potentially leading to sibling rivalry and adjustment issues. The older child may experience feelings of jealousy, attention-seeking behaviors, or a sense of displacement. Parents must navigate these challenges, ensuring that both children feel loved and valued while fostering a positive sibling relationship. Limited Personal Time and Self-Care Caring for two children often leaves parents with limited personal time and reduced opportunities for self-care. The demands of parenting can make it challenging to find moments for relaxation, pursuing personal interests, or engaging in activities that promote well-being. This lack of self-care can impact parental mental and emotional health. Strained Marital Relationship The birth of a second child can strain the marital relationship as parents face new challenges, increased responsibilities, and limited time for each other. Balancing the needs of children, household duties, and work can leave little room for quality time as a couple. Open communication, shared responsibilities, and finding ways to reconnect become vital for maintaining a healthy partnership. Time Management and Organization Managing the schedules and demands of two children can be overwhelming. Parents must juggle school routines, extracurricular activities, doctor appointments, and other commitments while ensuring that both children's needs are met. Effective time management and organizational skills become crucial for maintaining a sense of order and reducing stress. Emotional Adjustment and Hormonal Changes The emotional adjustment after the birth of a second child can be intense for parents, particularly for the mother. Hormonal changes, coupled with the challenges of caring for multiple children, can lead to mood swings, postpartum depression, or anxiety. Recognizing and addressing these emotional challenges is essential for the well-being of the entire family. Impact on Career and Work-Life Balance The birth of a second child often brings changes to a parent's career trajectory and work-life balance. Balancing childcare responsibilities, potential career interruptions, and meeting work expectations can be challenging. This transition can impact job satisfaction, financial stability, and the ability to find a harmonious balance between work and family life. Support Network and Resources Expanding the family can place additional strain on the support network available to parents. Limited availability of family members, friends, or community resources can create feelings of isolation and overwhelm. Cultivating a support network, seeking assistance when needed, and utilizing available resources can help alleviate the challenges faced during this period. The birth of a second child brings numerous challenges that families must navigate. Understanding these challenges and seeking strategies to address them can help parents create a supportive and nurturing environment for their growing family. Open communication, sharing responsibilities, seeking support from friends and family, and practicing self-care are essential elements in managing the difficulties faced during this transformative time. With patience, flexibility, and resilience, families can embrace the joys and triumphs that come with welcoming a second child into their lives.

A Father's Echo
In the quiet corners of my heart, where cherished memories reside, I carry the echoes of my father's love. Though he left this world long ago, his presence continues to resonate, transcending time and reminding me of the profound impact he had on my life. My father was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. His love was gentle and steadfast, like a guiding light in the darkness. From the moment I came into this world, he enveloped me in a warmth that transcended physical touch. His tender gaze, filled with pride and adoration, was a testament to the depths of his love for me. As a child, I would sit on his lap, my small hand clasped in his, and together we would explore the world. He would point out the beauty in the simplest of things—the vibrant colors of flowers, the mesmerizing flight of butterflies, and the gentle rustling of leaves in the wind. In those moments, I felt his love infuse my being, shaping my perspective and nurturing a sense of wonder. As the years passed, our bond deepened. My father became my confidant, my guide, and my pillar of strength. His unwavering belief in me fueled my dreams, providing the courage to pursue my passions. Even when the world doubted me, he remained my steadfast supporter, offering words of encouragement and reminding me of my inherent worth. But time is an unforgiving force, and it carried my father away from me too soon. The ache of his absence left a void that seemed impossible to fill. Yet, within that void, I discovered something extraordinary—the power of a father's echo. In moments of uncertainty and doubt, I would close my eyes and listen. I would listen to the echoes of his voice, whispering words of wisdom and love. His gentle guidance, etched into the recesses of my mind, offered solace and reassurance. It was as if his presence lingered, an ethereal force of love and guidance. The echoes of my father's love echoed through my achievements, reminding me that his belief in me had become an intrinsic part of my own self-belief. When I doubted my abilities, his voice would gently resurface, urging me to keep going, to strive for greatness. His love, like an eternal flame, fueled my determination and pushed me to reach for the stars. In moments of joy and celebration, I would feel his presence most keenly. As I accomplished milestones and celebrated victories, I could almost hear his laughter and see his proud smile. It was in those moments that I realized his love was a timeless gift, transcending the boundaries of life and death. Father's Day became a sacred day of remembrance—a day when I would seek his presence, honor his memory, and thank him for the legacy he left behind. I would visit the places we once shared, recounting stories of our adventures, and feeling his spirit intertwine with mine. In those moments, I understood that love knows no bounds, extending beyond the physical realm and forever shaping our lives. The echoes of my father's love have become a guiding force in my own journey as a parent. I strive to emulate his kindness, patience, and unwavering support. I pass down the lessons he taught me, infusing the lives of my own children with the same sense of wonder, love, and belief in their inherent worth. As I carry the echoes of my father's love within me, I realize that his absence does not diminish his impact. His presence remains palpable, a constant reminder of the depth of a father's love. In those echoes, I find comfort, strength, and a profound connection to the man who will forever be my father. So, on this Father's Day, as I listen to the echoes of his love, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the time we shared, for the lessons he imparted, and for the legacy he left behind. And in the depths of my heart, I whisper my love and appreciation, knowing that his echo will continue to shape my life, forever. The echoes of my father's love have become a guiding force in my own journey as a parent. I strive to emulate his kindness, patience, and unwavering support. I pass down the lessons he taught me, infusing the lives of my own children with the same sense of wonder, love, and belief in their inherent worth. In the tapestry of our lives, the echoes of a father's love reverberate through the generations, leaving an indelible mark on our souls. It is a love that transcends time, uniting fathers and children across the ages, connecting us to the past, anchoring us in the present, and inspiring us for the future. I often find myself reflecting on the echoes of my own father's love, passed down through the stories and memories shared by those who came before me. My father, a man of quiet strength and unwavering devotion, was a beacon of love and guidance in my life. He nurtured my dreams, held my hand through life's challenges, and taught me the values that would shape my character. But my father's love did not exist in isolation. It was woven into a tapestry of generations before him—fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers who, through their own echoes of love, laid the foundation for our family's legacy. Each father played a unique role in shaping the lives that followed, leaving behind a profound imprint of love and wisdom. As I reflect on the echoes of my father's love, I am reminded of the countless stories shared by my grandparents. Their voices, filled with warmth and nostalgia, painted vivid pictures of my father's childhood and the love he received from his own father. These echoes connected me to a lineage of love, a chain of fathers whose influence transcended time. Through these stories, I discovered common threads of resilience, compassion, and a deep reverence for family. I learned of the sacrifices made by my ancestors—their unwavering dedication to their children, their tireless work to provide a better life, and their unconditional love that weathered life's storms. It was within these echoes that I found solace and inspiration, knowing that I was part of a legacy rooted in love. As a father myself now, I understand the responsibility and privilege of passing down these echoes to my own children. I strive to embody the love and guidance that my father bestowed upon me, blending it with my unique experiences and insights. I seek to create a symphony of love—a harmonious blend of the echoes from my father and those who came before him, resonating through the lives of my children. Through the echoes of my father's love, I have come to realize that fatherhood is not just about a single individual; it is a collective experience that spans generations. It is a continuous cycle of learning, growing, and nurturing, as each father carries the echoes of his predecessors and adds his own unique voice to the chorus of love.In the moments when I hold my children close, I feel the echoes of my father's embrace, the warmth of his love passed down through the ages. I see his wisdom reflected in my own actions, as I guide my children with the same gentleness and patience he showed me. It is in these moments that I understand the power of a father's echo—it is a torch passed from one generation to the next, illuminating the path of love and shaping the lives of those who follow. As we celebrate Father's Day, let us remember that fatherhood is not confined to a single day or a single person. It is an eternal journey—a symphony of echoes reverberating through time, connecting fathers and children, and reminding us of the profound impact of a father's love. Let us honor the echoes of our fathers, embrace the responsibility to pass them on, and create a legacy of love that will resonate for generations to come.

Father’s Day
As Father’s Day approached, Emily felt a sense of emptiness. Her father had passed away a few years ago, and every year, this day reminded her of his absence. She missed him terribly, and the thought of not being able to celebrate Father’s Day with him anymore was unbearable.
