One Day, These Will Be the Days I Miss
A gentle reflection on motherhood, gratitude, and learning to cherish the present moment
The house is not always quiet.
There are toys where they shouldn't be.
There are unfinished tasks waiting for my attention.
There are days that feel long.
Very long.
Yet lately, I have found myself pausing in the middle of ordinary moments and thinking:
One day, I will miss this.
Not every challenge.
Not every exhausting moment.
But this season of life.
This version of my child.
This chapter that is passing more quickly than I realize.
Motherhood has a way of changing your relationship with time.
The days can feel endless.
Yet the years somehow fly by.
One moment, you are carrying a tiny baby in your arms.
The next, they are becoming more independent.
More curious.
More themselves.
And it happens so gradually that you hardly notice it until one day you do.
I think that is why motherhood feels so emotional sometimes.
Because even while you are living a moment, part of you knows it will not last forever.
The bedtime stories.
The tiny hugs.
The way they reach for your hand.
The little routines that feel ordinary now.
One day, they will be memories.
And when I think about that, I find myself paying closer attention.
I notice laughter more.
I slow down more.
I appreciate simple moments more.
Because these moments are the real treasures.
Not the perfectly planned days.
Not the flawless photos.
Not the milestones everyone celebrates online.
The real treasures are often found in ordinary moments.
A shared smile.
A quiet conversation.
A spontaneous hug.
A simple afternoon together.
These moments rarely make headlines.
Yet they become the memories that stay with us forever.
I think gratitude begins here.
Not in extraordinary experiences.
But in learning to see the beauty hidden within ordinary life.
When we stop waiting for life to become perfect before appreciating it, everything changes.
We begin to realize that joy has been here all along.
In small moments.
In familiar routines.
In everyday love.
Perhaps that is one of the greatest lessons motherhood has taught me.
To be present.
To notice.
To appreciate.
Because while this season may not be perfect, it is precious.
And one day, I know I will look back and miss parts of it deeply.
The laughter.
The closeness.
The simplicity.
The beautiful chaos.
So today, I am choosing gratitude.
Not because everything is easy.
But because everything is temporary.
And that truth makes ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
If you are in a busy season of life, I hope you pause for a moment today.
Take a breath.
Look around.
Notice something beautiful.
Because one day, these may be the days you miss most.
And that realization might just change the way you experience them now.
