Since the child started elementary school, some parents found that their children began to become more and more low self-esteem, before often hanging on the face of the smile also disappeared day by day, which can make them anxious

At first, they thought their child's academic performance had dropped so they were a little sad, but then they realized that their child was being ridiculed by their classmates because of his stuttering, and the confidence and smile he used to have disappeared.

To change the impact of stuttering on their children, parents look everywhere for ways to correct stuttering, but the market for stuttering correction methods is mixed, a little carelessness will fall into the trap, and many parents find their children not only useless methods but also make the child's stuttering more serious.

Is there no way to solve stuttering?

Of course not, stuttering is only one of the many language problems, even hearing impairment, cleft palate and other serious physical defects caused by language problems can be corrected, let alone stuttering such a characteristic performance of more obvious language problems.

Let's start by understanding what stuttering is. Stuttering is a speech disorder that is characterized by frequent, involuntary repetition (speech, syllables, words, or phrases), pauses, and long interruptions that differ in frequency and intensity from those of a normal fluent person. This is commonly referred to as "stuttering" or "stammering".

There are many reasons for stuttering, such as the child's complex language environment, frequent contact with people who stutter or imitating the stutterer's speech. Many times stuttering appears silently and is difficult for parents to detect, resulting in the problem getting worse.

If stuttering is a major blow to a child's expression, the psychological and emotional impact of stuttering is more serious. Many children's stuttering problems have a lot to do with this, so correcting stuttering is not only about changing the speech state, but also about changing the psychological state.

It is found that they all show a common characteristic when facing stuttering: their moods go through a range of ups and downs, from silence before the stuttering examination, to anger and collapse after learning about the stuttering, to joy at receiving stuttering correction. Changes in mental state play an extraordinary role in the correction of a child's stuttering.

But most of the time parents only notice the change in speech state and fail to see the impact of the mental state on their child.

The core of stuttering, and the most neglected aspect of stuttering, is the emotional and cognitive aspects of stuttering. It includes both the fear, anxiety, stress, shame, guilt, frustration, and other negative feelings and emotions that stuttering brings to the child, as well as the child's view and perception of stuttering, of themselves, and life and the world in general.

Parents see their children's low self-esteem going down day by day because their children are afraid of stuttering. After all, stuttering brings too many negative things to them, such as ridicule from classmates, tangled jams when answering questions, and so on. These negative emotions are accumulating, and if they are not released in time, they will become the last straw that leads to the aggravation of the child's stuttering problem.

Finally, in the process of stuttering correction, attention should be paid to distinguishing between different groups of people who stutter, because the methods of stuttering correction for children and adults are not the same. Most children stutter due to imitation of cues, complex language environment, etc., while many adults stutter due to the stress of work and study, excessive mental stress and anxiety can lead to changes in their language status. Therefore, stuttering correction should not only pay attention to the method but also s more practical issues.

Stuttering is not scary, facing it head-on and not running away from it is the basis of stuttering correction. When you are afraid of stuttering, the harm of stuttering will become even greater.
