So my mom had married a loser, or had gotten matched to one, then married him. It's a long story, but in the church I grew up in, people are matched; meaning voluntary arranged marriages. Sometimes it works out, but in my mother's case, among others, it did not.

My Hero
I am going to share with you the story of a hero. The cape he wore wasn’t like what you’d see in the movies like Superman. It was hidden under his dirty jeans, calloused hands, and worn out button-down shirt. His eyes always screamed fatigue, yet when the end of the day had drawn to a close, he would always come back and tuck me in. The gentle smile that spread across his face reminded me that my hero had returned. I’d forget about the beatings.

I couldn’t believe it. I mean does anyone who is a pre-teen really understand that their parents are going to get divorced? Unless maybe there is possible major abuse, which in my family there was none. It was just, Dad, Mom and 11 year old clueless, me. I was just going along in life thinking everything was fine and then, bam, Mom said we are moving out. Moving out? What does that even mean? Moving out of the only house I’ve ever known. My childhood home. Away from my neighborhood, away from my school, away from my friends. Who does this!?!

This Is Us
This is Us follows the lives of the fictional Pearson family. A love story centred around main characters Jack & Rebecca, who soon fall pregnant with triplets. When I first put this on I had run out of programs to watch and my hopes were not high from the synopsis. Within 20 minutes I was hooked. Hooked in that unhealthy way, where you find yourself not wanting to leave your new-found television friends and being so emotionally involved in the storyline. You need water, you need lunch, dinner, the toilet; but you just can’t find a way to pause the television. Amazon Prime also have a sneaky way of starting the next episode so swiftly that you don’t really have a chance to say no. One episode merges into the next and in the blink of an eye your day is over!

She was 12, her daddy was everything.
She was 12 outgoing, rough, & friendly. Across the road from her childhood home sat the grounds of the primary school she did attend. Her daddy sat upon the front step where he would watch her walk to & from school, when he was home.
