Kim Eun-sook Explored Painful Bullying Storyline In New Drama 'Hwarang'

Goblin is one of the most talked-about dramas in Korean history, and the second season is set to premiere in just a few months. As reported by Koreaboo, the character of King Tae-hyung is shown to undergo a major transformation in the upcoming Goblin season 2.

Goblin is played by Gong Yoo, the only actor to have received an acting nomination at both the Seoul Film Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards. His character was notorious for being an abusive and violent person, but by the end of the first season, he seemed to be less self-centered and more of a king who was willing to bend over backwards for the people in his kingdom.

According to All K-pop, the Goblin character in the Goblin season 2 will undergo a major transformation when he becomes the commander of Hwarang. The Hwarang is a much-admired and respected bodyguard group led by the King, and Goblin will play the role of the leader who loves and admires each one of his soldiers and wants to nurture their talents and skills.

By the time the King is leading Hwarang, he will have changed to a mature and responsible leader, while the Hwarang members will have changed as well and will be guided by the legendary warrior.

“The cruel and violent King Yoo-jong, a demon of the Goblin Kingdom, will transform into a smart and wise King through a journey. With the help of his subordinates, he will become one of the greatest warriors in the kingdom.”

Since the Goblin season 1 finale left many fans surprised with its dark and surprising conclusion, it remains to be seen if the drama will be able to deliver another soul-crushing event in the upcoming Goblin season 2. As reported by Soompi, actress Kim Eun-sook will be taking on a rather painful role in the upcoming Goblin season 2.

Kim Eun-sook will be playing the role of Jo An, the mother of Kim Shi-ryong (Choi Shi-min).

The Goblin mom of Kim Shi-ryong is shown in the trailer as a middle-aged woman whose son left the palace and got married, while she was left to grieve alone in the palace.

As many fans of Goblin know, Choi Shi-min and his sister, Kim Hye-soo (Choi Young-mi), are supposed to be dead in the Goblin season 1 finale. However, the images of Choi Shi-min flying off into the air in a flashback sequence was enough to convince viewers that he was not really dead, and he might possibly be alive.

Despite this, Kim Shi-min’s mother did not seem to have the courage to reveal the truth to anyone. As such, the Goblin season 2 trailer does not show much of Jo An’s story, leaving her plot point to be revealed when the drama returns on January 13.

The Goblin season 2 trailer also did not show the happy reunion between the Goblin (Gong Yoo) and Lee Yeok (Lee Dong-wook), nor did it show Lee Shi-jin (Ha Jung-woo) and Seo Eun-hye (Lee Bo-young). Lee Shi-jin was last seen in the Goblin season 1 finale, where he was seen handing the Goblin King a bloody dagger. Although the scene of the Goblin laying down with the dagger in his chest seemed to imply that he had been killed, the trailer did not show him getting stabbed with the weapon. It was only when the Goblin was lying down on a bed with a single white flower in his hands that the dagger was finally shown in the video.

Instead of showing the Goblin and Lee Shi-jin’s happy reunion, the Goblin season 2 trailer focused on character growth and an exciting new conflict.

Although the Goblin season 2 trailer does not show much of a plot, it does show that fans of the drama will be seeing Choi Shi-min and his sister, Kim Hye-soo, back on the small screen again.
