Graduation And Birthday Parties This Weekend
Two nieces and two great granddaughters' birthdays

My sister would be so proud. Her granddaughters give credit to their grandmother for encouraging them to attend college, both by her words and by her finishing both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.
One of the girls was the valedictorian for their class with a 4.0 grade point average. The party is today at Norway beach. A favorite family spot for celebrations.
Since their grandmother died I have been a stand in for her. I have done my best with birthdays and Christmas. And by attending some of their basketball games. My sister had seven grandchildren when she died, and she now has two great grandchildren.
Today, the weather is perfect for an outdoor celebration. Warm, sunny and by a lake with a nice beach.
I was thinking about what I have of their grandmothers to pass on, and I am limited to my favorites right now. So I am giving them what most college graduates probably are interested in most, and that is money.
Then, I put together a calendar with art that their grandmother made. She once made a calendar for a nursing home she worked at in Red Lake. I updated this calendar for the Team Carrie Fundraiser in June for Red Lakes Community Health Services program.
Then there are some of her favorite recipes in this calendar also.

Granddaughter is turning three tomorrow and she is so excited about her birthday. When asked what she wants for her birthday she said a cupcake. I got a list from her mother and that was helpful. The girls have so many toys. I just purchased a toy chest for them as they needed another one.
Their mother insists that she is going to put many of the toys the girls never play with in a yard sale she is having in a week or so.
I recently watched the girls while their mother worked as my grandson is back to work after several months on unemployment. He was the girls primary caretaker when their mother was working. She is away for 5 hours a day for three days a week.
While there I discovered her favorite toys are toys that her grandma Joanna picked out for her. Her mother said she plays with the same toys all of the time. She has her favorites.
I thought it was a great idea to take my granddaughter shopping as she may have had something to do with picking the toys her mother got for the girls. So that was what I did. It went well and was a great idea. The party tomorrow will be fun.

My granddaughter moved into a brand-new house with her three children. She broke up with the baby's dad and decided to go ahead with plans to buy. The girls were so excited when seeing the result of decorating their rooms as they wanted.
You can see in the photo above just how happy great granddaughter was when she saw her room for the first time. She was with her other parent while the painting and decorations were being finished. I love purple but would like a lighter room. Her mom said, "There is a large window."
We can always change the paint later. So true. As long as the girls were thrilled, I can love it too.
She turned nine during the move and only asked to go out to eat for her birthday. That was all she asked for. Now that they are all moved in, she asked for a party with hamburger gravy, pot roast and mashed potatoes.
That sounds good to me, so we will do that tomorrow, as well as seeing the new decorations and how everything looks all put back together. I will look for a housewarming gift as well.
