God of Tamil Cinema

Rajinikanth is a superstar in the Indian film business, and just hearing his name inspires a wave of ticket sales. Millions of his admirers around the globe view him as a semi-divine figure. Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, Rajinikanth's actual name, was given to him on December 12, 1950. When he made the decision to relocate to Chennai (then Madras) to follow his interest in acting, he was a bus conductor in Bengaluru. But he had no idea that one day he would surpass all previous movie stars created in the nation.

His mentor K Balachander, who directed Apoorva Raagangal in 1975, gave him his film debut in a minor part. And after playing supporting parts, villains, and second leads in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films for a while, he finally made his acting début as a hero in the 1978 film Bairavi, and the rest is history. The actor has been setting patterns in embracing ground-breaking technologies in filmmaking since his debut in a black and white movie more than 50 years ago. He was the first Indian performer to play a lead role in the motion capture-shot animated movie Kochadaiyaan. Aishwarya and Soundarya are two of Rajinikanth's children from his marriage to Latha Rajinikanth.

Political Career: Rajinikanth remarked that if the AIADMK takes back control, "Even God cannot save Tamil Nadu." Rajinikanth urged the people of Tamil Nadu and his supporters to vote in favour of the DMK and Tamil Mannila Congress coalition. In 1996, this coalition achieved total victory. In the general elections held in India in 1996 and 1998, Rajinikanth backed the DMK-Tamil Mannila Congress coalition. Later in 2004, Rajinikanth declared he would directly support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Indian general election but would not back any other front. However, the party was unable to secure any seats in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Parliament.

In March 2017, Rajinikanth decided to postpone his trip to Sri Lanka at the urging of Tamil Nadu lawmakers. BJP leaders questioned this decision. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy claimed that Rajinikanth was uneducated and unsuitable for politics in June 2017. Additionally, he charged Rajinikanth with financial deception, saying he had solid evidence of the actor's financial wrongdoings, which would undermine Rajinikanth's political ambitions.

Rajinikanth, however, has reportedly missed his opportunity, and unlike 1996, when he was at his best, it will be very challenging for him to have a major impact in 2019.

On December 31, 2017, Rajinikanth declared his plan to run in all 234 constituencies in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections in 2021. He declared that if his party failed to keep its election pledges within three years of taking office, it would resign. On July 12, 2021, Rajinikant disbanded his Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) party and declared that he has no intention of running for office again.

Awards and Honors: Rajinikanth has won numerous honours and awards for a large number of his films, primarily Tamil ones. In 1984, for Nallavanuku Nallavan, he won his first and only Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Performer. Subsequently, he was nominated for a Filmfare Award for his roles in Enthiran (2010) and Sivaji (2007). (2010). For his roles in different movies, Rajinikanth has won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards as of 2014. For his on-screen performances and off-screen writing and producing accomplishments, he was also honoured with numerous awards from Cinema Express and the Filmfans' Association.

Both the Kalaimamani Award and the M. G. R. Award were given to Rajinikanth by the Tamil Nadu government in 1984 and 1989, respectively. He received the Kalaichelvam Award from the South Indian Film Artistes' Union in 1995. The Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016. In a contest that included Shahrukh Khan and other celebrities, NDTV chose him as the Indian Performer of the Year for 2007. In the same year, he received the Raj Kapoor Award from the Bombay government. At the 4th Vijay Awards, he was presented with the Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award for Excellence in Indian Film. Additionally, Asiaweek listed Rajinikanth as one of the most significant figures in South Asia.

He was called the most powerful Indian of 2010 by Forbes India. He received the NDTV Performer of the Decade Award for 2010 in 2011 from the country's then-minister of home affairs, P. Chidambaram. He was recognised by NDTV as one of the "25 Outstanding Global Living Legends" in December 2013. At the 45th IFFI, he received the Indian Cinema Personality of the Year Award in 2014. At the 67th National Film Awards presentation event, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday, October 25, 2021, Rajinikanth was presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
