Competitive Exams
-Parents support is always precious

I opted for science in Class 11, ofcourse, I had this particular habit of doing what other people do, never had any interest in one particular thing and I take this optimistically thinking I can do everything and just need to choose, if badminton is in trend I would play badminton, if Volleyball’s inter school competition is near, I would recruit myself in Volleyball, if school has introduced a new skating ring, I would register myself for skating- my this behaviour impacted my choice of subject a lot, since I had no particular interest in any of them, I left the decision on my parents but unfortunately there was a tiff between them too. My mother wanted me to be a CA so she chose commerce with maths for me whereas my father wanted me to be an IAS so he chose Arts for me and nobody was willing to decide which one would be better. Then, we got a call from my friend’s father who happened to be my tutor too and that is how I chose neither arts nor commerce- Science!
But that also wasn’t the problem, mid way during my JEE preparation I realised that I actually was made for it, I was made for science. But then again my habits showed up! Writing and YouTube got popular and due to my need to do everything- I gave my studies a little less time, okay, no time at all. You don’t have to be an Indian to know about the suicide rate of students in India… slowly slowly I was starting to be in the category of children who are in the path of disappointing their parents- parents who were paying fees of their daughter’s school which she wasn’t even attending and fees to their daughter’s institution where she wasn’t paying attention being in a financial crises which was also ignored by her….
And it is not difficult to know what would have been the result of her exams! Although when I realised how much time I have wasted on doing random things I started studying again but of course that wasn’t enough. Nobody can memorise the syllabus of 2 years in just a few months. And I failed…..
I was feeling terrible, I wasted 2.5 lac rupees, broke my parents and my teacher’s trust who thought I could do it… even though I knew what the result would be… it felt really bad. But, my parents literally IGNORED IT! Yes! They said it was okay to fail, it was okay to get distracted as it was actually my age to do the things which I was getting deprived of, it was my age to explore things before burying myself in something as boring as studying and it was my age to grow mentally in all aspects not just the aspect of memorising things which wouldn’t have any importance in my later life….
My parents made me understand how failure was a part of life, how trying was the key point, how me self-learning the time wasted and bringing myself on track was the actual motive of doing all this and how I could never ever disappoint them as I was their daughter on whom they were proud of, who could do multiple things at once, who would bring various medals in school and who knew the balance between studying and enjoying.
That one moment where my parents supported me, didn’t scold me for failure was the actual turning point of my whole life, where I actually understood the importance of failure and when I actually learned the importance of learning through our mistakes and not getting depressed or committing suicide for it…
I wish each and every one of you to have as supportive parents as mine.
Good luck!
