It has been a while since I have written an article or story. I have been very busy with other projects and priorities. Number one, my almost non verbal 3 year old son. He has no diagnosis, as medical turmoil in the community has delayed all forms of support for our kids.

When I started to become concerned for my sons speech delay, needless to say I began researching every scrap of info I could find online about what constitutes a speech delay, versus a language delay. Also to learn how to help my son become verbal. I am an experienced mother, as my youngest is my fourth child. I had been doing all the regular games and activities to encourage speech, as well as narrating our daily routines, and none of it was imprinting.

After months of reading online articles on the topic, purchasing endless useless learning apps to help us make learning fun, I discovered Gemiini.

Gemiini is an online learning community that has rich and immersive content, complete with detailed instructional videos. Parents and educators can access phone support from experts, and the parents who are accessing Gemiini to support their kids. Fun, entertaining, and engaging instructional videos for our littles, walk them, and us as parents through guided exercises, and a testing function for receptive and expressive absorption. It is a highly supported platform.

We began our Gemiini journey on December 29th, in the level two scale of the pyramid, with animal names and sounds. They also teach the sign language for each animal that is introduced. The goal for this tier is to have the child be able to identify by sight, each animal in the video set, and to be able to convey the sound they make, their name and/or their sign. We moved to level three after he had mastered 39 spoken words, and sounds.

This activity began a wave of new words not included in the videos as well. My husband and I accessed the tools shown to us through Gemiini to introduce other day to day words that make for ease of communication. My son has grown as a speaker by 1000%! He is a much happier guy, now that he feels a sense of confidence in his ability to communicate.

As his Mama, I am over the moon!

Prior to us beginning Gemiini, my son had less words than I could count on both hands. One month later, he knows all the animals, their sounds and about half of the signs. The videos can be played either actively, by sitting with your child and going through the videos actions together, or played passively while they play as background noise. He enjoys the clarity with which the words are presented, and they are very immersive, showing various representations of each word. For example, if the word is lion, they will show a lion, then a person saying lion in a very neutral tone, along with the sign language, then a close up of the word spoken, then a cartoon representation, and then a toy. Context is created and really helps addresses neuro-divergence in its delivery. Also, the channel is available through roku, and can be added to your television for ease of use.

Each video is designed to include various people, including children verbalizing the goal word.

Gemiini is designed by educators and subscriptions are a tad pricey, but they offer financial support for low income families so that it is not prohibitive to any child who needs the extra support.

As a parent of a child who struggled with speech, I can 100% recommend this program. He is well on his way to catching up with his age groups expected milestones. Watching him get excited instead of frustrated is the biggest gift. One I hope to share with other parents who are facing similar issues with their littles, on their journeys towards communication. This program would suit a broad base of concerns and difficulties from Autism spectrum, to downs syndrome, and everything between.
