The cheapest path to the peak is the Marangu route, popularly referred to as the Coca-Cola route. The convenience of sleeping huts with solar lighting and nice beds at each campsite is also unique to this route.

The bunks include a sponge mattress and cushion and are located in communal huts.

Both Mandara and Kibo Huts have 60 beds, and Horombo Hut has 120 beds. At the two lower huts, running water and restrooms are accessible. There are very basic latrines for men and women at the previous camp.

All climbing groups, frequently hailing from different nations, eat together in dining huts, which creates a fun and vivacious atmosphere.

The shortest path to the summit can be completed on this route in 5 days, although it can also be completed in 6 days for better acclimatization. Spend the additional day relaxing in Horombo or scaling Mawenzi, a nearby peak.
