Becoming a new father is one of the most exciting and life-changing events any man can experience. However, it can also be a stressful and overwhelming time, especially when it comes to caring for your newborn. As a new father, it’s important to have the right tools and products to help you maintain your sanity while also feeling like the masculine provider for your family. In this article, I’ll highlight 10 products that’ve been absolute must-haves for me and I hope it helps new fathers make the transition into fatherhood as smooth as possible.

1. Tactical Baby Carrier

A tactical baby carrier is a must-have for any new dad looking to maintain their sense of style and masculinity while carrying their baby. Its rugged design and functionality make it the perfect accessory for any outdoor adventure or everyday use.

A baby carrier is a great way to keep your hands free while still being able to hold and comfort your baby. It can also be a great way to bond with your newborn and allow them to feel close to you. There are many different types of baby carriers available, from wrap-style carriers to structured carriers. Choose one that feels comfortable for you and your baby, and that is easy to put on and take off.

This tactical-style carrier from TBG is my preference when walking around with my newborn or just hanging out in the backyard to get some fresh air.

2. Tactical Diaper Bag

I do love tactical-looking dad products so this tactical diaper bag, also from TBG, is a game-changer for any new dad who wants to stay organized and prepared while on the go with their baby. With its included wipes pocket and MOLLE system, it’s both functional and stylish, making it the perfect accessory for any adventure. I’ve had mine for 6 years and it’s still going strong and since it doesn’t look like a typical diaper bag, I still often use it for EDC with the little ones.

A diaper bag is an essential item for any new father. It will allow you to keep all of your baby’s essentials organized and easily accessible when you’re on the go. Look for a bag with plenty of compartments and pockets, and that is also durable and easy to clean. You may also want to consider a backpack-style bag to keep your hands free.

3. Baby Monitor

A baby monitor is a must-have for any new father, especially if you plan on having your baby sleep in a separate room from you. There are many different types of baby monitors available, from audio-only to video monitors. Look for a monitor with a good range and clear sound or video quality.

The one I chose for my little ones is from Infant Optics and it’s worked so well that we got a second one when my other baby was born to face each of their beds. It comes with a wide-angled lens that you can easily swap out so when the kiddos are in the living room, I move it there so I can keep an eye out while they play together in a separate room.

4. Electric Baby Wipes Warmer + Dispenser

An electric baby wipes warmer is a game changer for parents. The warm wipes make diaper changes more comfortable for babies and the ease of use makes it a must-have for any parent. No more fumbling with cold wipes in the middle of the night, this product is a lifesaver.

In addition to the safety and comfort aspects of the electric baby wipes warmer, it also provides convenience for parents. With the warmer, the wipes are always readily available and at the perfect temperature, eliminating the need to run them under warm water or use a separate heating device. This makes diaper changes faster and easier, which can be especially helpful during those late-night feedings and diaper changes.

Overall, the electric baby wipes warmer is a practical and worthwhile investment for parents who want to make the diaper-changing process as comfortable and efficient as possible for both themselves and their baby.

5. Noise-Canceling Headphones

As a new father, it’s important to take time for yourself and practice self-care. Noise-canceling headphones can be a great way to block out the noise of a crying baby and take some time for yourself. Look for a pair with good sound quality and a comfortable fit.

My choice are the Apple Airpods 3rd Generation. The ability to quickly switch from noise-cancelling to transparent has been exactly what I need when I need a break from the noise or if I want to listen for crying or arguing while listening to a podcast.

6. Portable White Noise Machine

A portable white noise machine can be a great way to soothe your baby to sleep, especially when you’re on the go. Look for a machine that is easy to use and has a variety of sound options.

This has helped us many times while visiting family where our baby needs to sleep in an unfamiliar environment. It’s also been a life-saver when we’re taking longer car rides and our baby needs a little help falling asleep.

7. Swaddle Blankets

Swaddle blankets are a must-have for any new father. They help keep your baby cozy and comfortable, and they can also help soothe them to sleep. Look for blankets made of breathable material and that are easy to use.

Our choice has been the Halo Sleep Sack as we’ve struggled with other brand swaddles coming undone as the baby sleeps through the night or the velcro just isn’t strong enough to hold as your baby grows and gets stronger.

8. Diaper-Changing Pad

A diaper-changing pad is an essential item for any new father. It will provide a clean and comfortable surface for diaper changes, no matter where you are. Look for a pad that is easy to clean and has a non-slip surface.

We went with a waterproof changing pad so I can easily use a disinfecting wipe to clean it off. There are covers you can also purchase to keep the mat feeling cozy since it can get sticky for the baby during the hotter months.

9. Portable High Chair

A portable high chair can be a great way to keep your baby safe and comfortable during meals, no matter where you are. Look for a chair that is easy to clean and that is adjustable to fit your baby’s size.

My preference is a high chair that you can stick it onto the edge of a table so the baby can eat with the family at the table. They’re typically easy to put on and take off and they don’t often take up a lot of space when traveling.

10. Stroller Wagon

A stroller wagon offers several benefits over traditional strollers. Firstly, they are more spacious and can accommodate multiple children, making them a perfect choice for families with more than one child. Secondly, stroller wagons come with additional storage space, which is very convenient when traveling with babies and toddlers.

This means that parents can carry more supplies, snacks, and toys without having to worry about overloading their shoulders or back. Finally, stroller wagons are also designed to be very versatile and can be used on a wide range of terrains, including rough or uneven surfaces. This makes them ideal for outdoor activities, such as picnics, beach outings, or hiking.

Our choice, although one of our more expensive purchases, was the W2 Luxe Double Stroller Wagon from WonderFold. It’s well-constructed and durable, with a sturdy frame that can carry up to 150 pounds. The seats are padded and comfortable, and the adjustable canopy provides ample shade for your little ones. The wagon also features a storage compartment and cup holders, making it convenient for long trips to the park or zoo. We’ve received several compliments and questions about our stroller wagon and although it was pricey, it was well worth it.

The best part, once the kiddos get older and outgrow the wagon, we can still use it to transport gear when we go to the park or the beach.

As a new father, it’s important to have the right tools and products to help you care for your newborn while also maintaining your sanity. When my kids were born, I didn’t want to look like that guy with using all the stuff my wife thought was cute. I’m a girl dad but that doesn’t mean I need to look like one.
