After graduating high school you feel as if you have everything figured out: Scheduling your college orientation, packing up your things, and taking charge of your own life finally. Or, it feels that way. Until a month and a half in, you are knee-deep in homework, eating “dinner” at 10 PM, and debating if you can risk another absence from class just for some extra sleep.

College can get to the point where you can feel at your roots end. It can drain you of any hope you had of achieving that once in a life time college experience, your relatives talked about in your high school years. How did anyone expect a fresh out of high school, young adult to suddenly know how to get their together? It absolutely seems impossible.

Losing meaning and happiness in college could resort in you giving up on your future career, moving on to settle for the bare-minimum, and lead you to hardly finding any other passion in life. Despite college being hard, It doesn’t mean it should drain all the happiness and hope you had for your future away. Yet, If it happens, It doesn’t mean hope can’t be found again.

Throughout your college career, taking a hold of your meaning in life, and finding your source of happiness is super important. It’s important for your future career, for your relationships, and especially, yourself.

Meaning and happiness can be found once more on your journey through college in various ways. It just depends on what works for you that matters.

Whether that be letting go of negative college friends and allowing new, positive ones to come into your life, opening up new adventures within your journey at college from sororities to club work, or taking upon a different major you’re more passionate towards. There are various ways to get you on the path of happiness in your college experience.

Most importantly, for your mental health, branching out and finding passion and meaning within your new world will help easy all the tensions around you and hopefully, lift up the burden that college life brings.

Finding happiness is of course, no walk in the park. It can take trial and error to find your cup of tea in your hectic life, but it is possible for a young adult starting out in life to achieve. Never be afraid to branch out and try new beginnings. If you feel unhappy in the place you are now in your education life, there’s always time to change it and turn things around for yourself!

Once you find your motivation, and your happiness in your busy life, it improves your overall drive, passion, and attitude. You will find yourself walking through your campus with light shoulders and a smile on your face as you see your newly founded friends, meeting with a new club, and the other many things that you’ll find that have brighten up your university life.

Finding meaning and happiness in the busy, college student life will, like I said, take time! But, once it’s achieved, the many trials getting to it will be absolutely worth it to yourself and your future career in your field.
