In a study by the US Department of Education, 81% of 4th graders reported having a positive attitude towards mathematics, but that number drops significantly to 35% for 8th graders. Somehow, in the span of four years, children lose their interest in the subject, and as a result, their performance declines.

Math can be boring, abstract, and uncreative, which can make it difficult to understand. Because the concepts in math are difficult to understand & master, kids avoid math. Unfortunately, avoidance only leads to an increase in disinterest and phobia. Making math creative is a great idea to keep children interested in math.

Generally, the focus in learning math is on convergent thinking (giving the correct answer). However, excellent mathematics learners know that there are numerous ways to get the same correct answer (divergent thinking). Excellent mathematical learners also focus on divergent thinking. Combining divergent thinking with convergent thinking also helps children excel in several subjects other than math. Creative skills are thought to be beneficial for learning in general (Kaufman & Sternberg, 2010). Let's see how children can solve best games for 3 year olds, problems, and exercises creatively.

1. Using different methods to solve problems

Some educators fixate on using just one technique or formula to solve a math problem. This doesn't allow children to practice divergent thinking. Allowing children to come up with several different ways to solve the same coloring games for kids allows them to build their creativity. When children solve math problems creatively using different methods it increases their interest and boosts their confidence. Allowing children to figure out the answer to a problem on their own also enhances their mathematical creativity.

2. Let children create their own math problems

Problem finding, problem posing, and problem creation in any domain is important. These are the integral aspects of creativity. Children should be encouraged to come up with as many different problems as they can with a given situation. Teaching children to start thinking creatively early in life is necessary. Designing their own cool math car game is a great idea. Several math worksheets for preschoolers are available online. Children can solve them and take inspiration from them and design some on their own.

3. Let children play educational games

Math games for kids pair fun with math and allow kids to choose their level of mathematical challenge. With educational math games, kids can learn math anytime and anywhere. Neuroscientists observe that learning math by itself activates certain regions in our brain that enhance analytical and problem-solving abilities. On the other hand, playing any challenging game develops our logical and visuospatial abilities. Kids who play games also have enhanced selective and sustained attention skills. When math and gaming are put together with educational games, kids develop several abilities. Educational math games for kids like math racing games make math interesting and boost creativity.
