Parents have killed the American Educational System
I realize people don't want to hear this but parents killed the American educational system. Of course this is not all parents. They only want their kids to pass and don't care if their kid learns anything and will blame the teacher for their kids lack of knowledge, drive or behavior. Although administration has a lot of blame but it is mainly the parents that killed the American education system nd I am glad I quit teaching years ago.

Unplanned Triumphs:
Popularity is a peculiar thing – anything and anyone can become famous for almost any reason. It's highly unpredictable and challenging to orchestrate or control what makes a new kind of cereal popular or a particular song a hit. If anyone knew the exact recipe, nothing would ever be unpopular. Nevertheless, sometimes things are not even trying to become popular, but well, it happens anyway.

Zombie Apocalypse
In the realm of apocalyptic fiction, visions of a zombie apocalypse often involve hordes of the undead, whether slow or fast, roaming deserted streets in search of fresh human prey. However, what if a real-life zombie scenario diverged significantly from these cinematic depictions? Imagine a scenario where people in crowded urban centers display eerie and detached behavior, climbing lamp posts and releasing fungal spores that infiltrate and control the minds of others. This chilling concept may seem like pure fiction, but intriguingly, nature provides us with glimpses of such mind-controlling parasites in the insect world.

Forbidden Love
In a small town nestled between rolling hills and whispering pine trees, lived two souls tethered by a love deemed forbidden by the unforgiving norms of society. Emma, the daughter of the town's respected mayor, found her heart entwined with Jack, a talented artist from the outskirts, whose hands bore the calluses of hard work and dreams that reached beyond the town's confined borders. Their love, though pure and sincere, faced the relentless opposition of a society shackled by traditions and expectations. Jack's humble origins clashed with Emma's privileged upbringing, creating a chasm that only intensified their passion. The clandestine meetings beneath the ancient oak tree by the river became their sanctuary, a space where whispers of love drowned out the judgments echoing through the town. As seasons changed, so did the rhythm of their forbidden love. Winter nights found them exchanging promises in hushed tones, their breath visible in the cold air, while summer evenings witnessed stolen kisses under the veil of twilight. Each stolen moment carried the weight of the world's disapproval, yet their hearts beat in unison, a testament to the resilience of love against societal constraints. The town, with its prying eyes and wagging tongues, became an arena where their love had to stand the test of endurance. Gossip weaved its way through the narrow streets like an insidious vine, entangling the fragile hearts of Emma and Jack. Their love was a whispered secret, a tale that both thrilled and terrified the townsfolk, for it dared to defy the rigid boundaries set by generations before. One fateful day, the mayor discovered the truth that lingered in the shadows of his own home. The weight of his political standing collided with the love he held for his daughter. Emma's tear-streaked face met her father's stern gaze, and in that moment, the impending storm of societal expectations clashed with the tempest of a father's love for his child. The town, torn between loyalty to its leader and compassion for two souls entangled in the web of forbidden love, became a battleground of emotions. Whispers turned into accusations, and accusations transformed into confrontations. Emma and Jack, caught in the eye of the storm, clung to each other, their love becoming the anchor that kept them grounded amidst the chaos. Through the trials and tribulations, Emma's father faced an internal struggle that mirrored the external conflict. His love for his daughter battled the ingrained prejudices of a society unwilling to embrace change. In a pivotal moment, he stood before the town, his words a plea for understanding and compassion. The mayor, once a figure of authority, became an advocate for love that transcends societal barriers. The town, slowly but surely, began to thaw. Hearts softened, prejudices crumbled, and the forbidden love that had once been a whispered secret emerged into the daylight, bathed in the warmth of acceptance. The mayor's transformation ignited a ripple effect, and the town learned that love, in all its forms, was a force that could bridge even the deepest divides. Emma and Jack, once confined to the shadows, stepped into the light hand in hand, their love a beacon of hope for a town that had witnessed the power of breaking free from the chains of prejudice. The oak tree by the river, witness to countless stolen moments, stood tall, its branches reaching for the sky as a symbol of resilience and enduring love. In the end, the tale of Emma and Jack became a legend in the town, a reminder that love, when faced with adversity, could bloom into something extraordinary. The forbidden love that had once been a source of anguish transformed into a catalyst for change, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who dared to challenge the boundaries set by society.

Hercules: The Man, The Myth...The Middle Schooler?
I have been a fan of Gary D. Schmidt ever since I was introduced to his work in one of my undergraduate classes. Schmidt’s novel, “Okay for Now,” changed the way I thought about young adult and middle-grade literature, and I have been an avid reader of his work ever since. I am also a bit of a mythology buff, so I knew that Schmidt’s newest work, “The Labors of Hercules Beal,” was going to be right up my alley.
