Parents have killed the American Educational System

I realize people don't want to hear this but parents killed the American educational system. Of course this is not all parents. They only want their kids to pass and don't care if their kid learns anything and will blame the teacher for their kids lack of knowledge, drive or behavior. Although administration has a lot of blame but it is mainly the parents that killed the American education system nd I am glad I quit teaching years ago.

Yes, the parents, whose only experience with teaching comes when they were students. Yes, parents whose view stops at their child and don't consider other children. Yes, the parents who can now decide if their kid who is failing and below grade level on all subjects can be held back or not. It's intentional, and frankly we are seeing the results - poorly educated students, who lack the ability to critically think, and fail to accept responsibility for their actions. It's everyone's fault except the actual students.

Parents can now decide lesson plans in some states. These parents have very little education on the subject such as biology or history can decide what can be taught in the classroom. They want to call teachers groomers but these parents are grooming their kids for failure and don't care.

At least one state at the time I am writing this thinks PragerU is good for educational material and uses it in their classroom. PragerU believes the Earth was created in 6 days by a magical being. Have you watched some of their videos?

Both the left and right ban books. The left have banned dozens of books such as Huckleberry Finn and the right is now getting in on the action. Both sides do not want books they disagree with to be available for their kids and neither side is actually interested in diversity of opinions.

My dad taught for more than 30 years and he was actually asked to provide the exam a few days earlier for a student which he refused. Another teacher had an interview with a mother and her lawyer because she wanted her son to be taught a certain way. The teacher explained how he had 5 periods with 30 students and that was not possible and then stood up and quit and then told the lawyer to teach if he thinks he could do better. Another teacher actually had a father admit to him that his son was a butthole but couldn't do anything because of child services, which is another problem. Child services is one reason why parents can't discipline their kids but most parents really don't want to discipline their kids, (phenomenon called gentle parenting).

If you teach self-defense such as Hapkido or Karate you will find that most parents just want their kid to get to the next belt level and then get upset when little Johnny gets his little butt whooped after running his mouth or trying to defend himself against a bully. These same parents pester doctors to give their kids antibiotics for viral infections and thanks to these parents we now have superbugs that are immune to antibiotics. The government needs to pass a law prohibiting doctors from prescribing antibiotics for viral infections so the doctors will have a good reason to refuse.

I will admit a lot of pet owners aren't any better by allowing their cats to run feral into other people's yards and not having their dogs secured.

People that are trained to teach and write lesson plans should do it not the parents. Sure we have bad teachers but a lot of teachers are quitting and we are just going to get worse teachers. Even administrators and principles are quitting now. Who really wants to teach these days in America? I assure you these parents wouldn't want someone not trained to do their job come by to tell them how to do their job, if they actually have a job.
