First time in College Kitchen

"Today was the first time that I was able to cook in the college kitchen with my partner Nicole Daoud. Being the first time that I was experimenting in a new kitchen with new surroundings it was quite nerveracking, although i do believe that in the end i did quite a good job. My aim was to produce a great and edible 'Salad Roll Up' that would display my techniques thoroughly. To begin with it took quite a while to get use to where everything was placed and this was something that i think Nicole and I struggled with. Although, in the future I am sure that we will find the equipment and utensils needed with much more simplicity now that we have experience.

Time management was one element that we had to display and from a personal point of view, I believe I achieved it along with Nicole with ease. We finished our Salad Roll Up with a few minutes before we had to clean up, giving us time to have everything sparkling clean and ready on our tray for Mrs. Miers to inspect. From a personal point of view, the component of this unit that I need to improve on is the amount of wastage. By the time Nicole and I had sprinkled all toppings onto the lavash bread, there were still quite a few pieces of tomato, carrot and cucumber that we consequently had to throw away, wasting good food. In the future it is important that we estimate before hand how much exactly is needed. That way it will be much more beneficial. Excusing all of these faults, I do believe that i completed this task with an exceptional standard."

Hamburger - Evaluation - Second time in College KItchen

"The second time i entered the kitchen i wasn't as scared as I was the first time. I was quite confident with everything that had to be completed as I knew where everything was and how the food collecting process worked. After Nicole and I had chopped up all the vegetables and mixed in the ingredients together for the patty, we were well on our way for cooking the meat. Once we were half way done we toasted the bread, which ultimately came out great. After the bread came out golden brown, the patties were ready and everything came together.

We finished making the burgers, put them in our containers and then moved onto cleaning up, which i found the hardest out of all the processes. This was because there were a lot of dishes and a little sink it, making it very hard for my bay to wash up. The water was going everywhere especially with the huge white chopping board and the frying pans from both sets of partners. Once i had finished washing up we realised that we had left a huge amount of water on the floor and this had to be cleaned up immediately for safety reasons. Apart from this i believe that Nicole and i did extremely better then last practical lesson as we were much more used to the college kitchen."

Evaluation - Third time in College Kitchen

"The third time cooking in the kitchen was pretty good as i knew where everything was and what was required of me to do. Once i had collected my ingredients and utensils my partner and I had to get a move on with the cooking. This process was more challenging than the other experiments, being that it consisted of a lot of other cooking techniques. Making the fettuccine was a bit challenging and i believe our bay struggled to make our pasta al dente. When the cooking was done it smelt absolutely fantastic and after this we packed it away in our containers, making it ready for us to eat. Before we could, we had to clean up, yet again it took up the majority of the time and was a very messy process. Maddison Andriano was on the washing up duties and the other 3 of us had to dry and pack away. Everyone was in a big rush and was hurry to get finished within the hour. At the end of the cleaning up we had to yet once again sanitize the bench, we had managed to finish just on the bell. The final result tasted amazing and all the ingredients worked well with each other. This recipe is one that i will definitely continue to cook for my family at home."
