Employability

1.1 Introduction

In today’s world, people fulfill their needs through computing. Computer science has been a broader field that is used by industries for several decades, and it keeps evolving every day. Nowadays, every organization, large or small, uses a computing device to make the process simple and dependable. With increased consumer requirements, the sector became more examined over time. As a result, I intended to begin my career in the IT field.

I've decided to choose a career in mobile application development. I've been interested in all these smart devices since my childhood. This inspired my decision to choose a degree in computer science at IIT. I had no idea about the industry at first, but after enrolling in the degree program and conducting research on various aspects of the computer industry, I found that there are many career paths in the IT industry. In my degree program, the Trends in Computer Science module is the one that leads me to think about what I should learn to be a successful person in the industry. And our module leader assisted us in determining what tickles us or what we are passionate about in this area. He talked about the cooperative culture, how to work with others, and the soft skills that we should develop, among other things.

The employability is defined as a multidimensional constellation of individual characteristics that predispose employees to actively adapt to their work and career environments. Employability facilitates the identification and realisation of job and career opportunities both within and between organizations. As IT students we must think about the future career depends on how new technologies are improved and what are the jobs that will have high demand in the industry in future. In this field we can work as a software engineer, video game designer, web designer, 3D animator, data analyst, systems analyst, cybersecurity specialist, and many other jobs.

1.1. How employability related events will support for your future career?

Participating in career guidance programs may have helped to gain new knowledge and skills, as well as make connections with professionals in the field. It's always better to meet experienced people who are currently doing the job we plan to do in the future. We can gain more information on related fields, and it is always better because they have been in the industry for a long time.

At the beginning of my degree, I was confused and unsure of which courses to choose to continue my career, and I was afraid that I might come to regret my selection in the future. But I was encouraged after attending a career guidance workshop at school (after A/L).

This workshop allows me to learn about different career paths and meet with professionals in various industries.

These events can provide valuable opportunities to learn about new technologies and best practices and discover new career paths and job opportunities. By participating in these

events, I gained confidence in my abilities and developed my communication skills, as I likely had the opportunity to interact with experts and present work. These experiences can help us build a strong foundation for my career plans and ultimately support my future career development.

There are several steps you can take to prepare for your future career while you are still in school:

1. Develop your skills: Read books, it can expand your knowledge, overcome your fear, find a mentor to make good decision and build your confidence, keep a journal, observe and learn others

2. volunteering/interning: Consider internships, co-op programs, or part-time jobs that will give you the experience in your desired future career and help you to make decisions. These experiences can make a significant difference for success.

3. Research growth trends: knowing the projected growth trends of your future career or interviewing the experts and employees, browsing, getting feedbacks

4. Professional development: earning a degree or completing a certification or learn the most up to date information can develop your profile.

5. Research potential employers: interacting and networking with other professionals and can get an idea about jobs and pluses minuses in the career

6. Evaluate your personal: build-up your transferrable skills and create a professional self- document.
