The education landscape is changing every day. With new ideas and spectrums being introduced on a daily basis, it is important to stay updated and informed to ace the game. There are a lot of terms and keywords that educators and students are not aware of or rather are not sure about. Here are ten key terms in education that everyone should know.

1. EdTech

EdTech is a combination of two words, i.e., education and technology. As the name suggests, it focuses on using technological tools and media to impart knowledge. It aims to improve the results, enhance the quality of education, and increase student engagement. In addition to this, it brings ease and effortlessness to the table. From the animated videos to a simple educational PPT, everything is EdTech. There has been a marked increase in the number of EdTech Startups. There are brilliant EdTech platforms that are making the lives of teachers and students easier.

2. Final Assessment

The final assessment is intended to examine and analyze the knowledge of a student at the end of a course. It is the activity that is done at the end of the course by a student. It is essential to understand where the students stand in terms of practical knowledge. Assessments are a pivotal part of any course. These can be in the form of an exam, a test, or an activity.

3. Online Teaching

Online teaching has become a household term now. When the pandemic struck, traditional classrooms came to a standstill and online classrooms took over. Online teaching is the process of teaching via the internet through virtual platforms and virtual classrooms. This brings us to our next term, Virtual Classrooms.

4. Virtual Classrooms

By definition, A virtual classroom is an online learning space that takes into consideration live collaboration between the teacher and the students as they participate in learning exercises. In simple words, virtual classrooms are classrooms that are hosted online with the help of an online teaching platform, website, or app.

5. E-Learning

This is a variant of what we have been talking about till now. Using online spaces and virtual classrooms to access education is termed E-Learning. Electronic learning as the name indicates is when a student or learner uses electronic means to access education. With the sudden onset of pandemic and school closures, E-Learning has become a popular alternative and because of the convenience and flexibility that it offers, more and more people are opting for the same.

6. Classroom Climate

The general environment of a classroom is defined as the classroom climate. The psychology of students, the atmosphere of the classroom, the rapport that the teachers have with the students and the students have with each other decides the climate of a classroom. Stringent rules and strict discipline is not what makes a classroom manageable. It is the kind of values cultivated and the sense of belonging.

7. Interactive Whiteboard

Online whiteboard is a relatively new concept for teachers. Interactive whiteboards are smart boards that allow teachers to include text, images, and more to interact with the students. An interactive whiteboard was actually developed by Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC), a division of Xerox, around the year 1990 for office use.

We are living in the digital era and refusal to stay updated will only put your other efforts in vain.
