Apple iPhone 5 Tips and Tricks

There are a lot of things to use that will make using your phone a little more convenient if you have an iPhone 12, or even an older model with iOS 14 software or later downloaded.

So there is much to get your teeth into whether you have an iPhone X or an iPhone 12 Pro Max. We'll walk you through some of the great tips and tricks we learned in this segment.

1. To take a screenshot, tap the back of your phone. The iOS software developed by Apple has long been the source of many helpful accessibility features. One of these features is the ability to tap the back of your phone to start specific functions, such as capturing a screenshot.

To activate it, click Settings, then go for "Accessibility," after which you should pick "Touch," and then scroll down to "Back Tap." Select 'Screenshot' after either doing a double or triple tap on the screen. It is now possible to take a screenshot on your iPhone by double- or triple-tapping the rear of the device.

You can double-tap or triple-tap to get to your notification centre in a hurry if you select the notification centre as the one you want to use, which is another nice option. Quite convenient.

2. Alter your default email and web browser apps:

2. Alter the applications that are set as default for your web browser and email client Changing the applications that are set as default for your web browser and email client is a feature that is available in iOS 14 and later. If you want Chrome to be your default browser on your iPhone, you will need to first download Chrome from the App Store, then launch the Settings app on your iPhone, and then look for Chrome at the very bottom of the list. Tap it, then choose 'default browser' from the following screen, and then choose 'Chrome' from the screen after that. Chrome is now going to be the default web browser.

You are able to do the same thing with email apps, so if you want to use Spark or Gmail as your default instead of Mail, you can do this by going to Settings, finding your third-party email app, tapping on it, then choosing 'default mail app' on the following page, and then choosing Spark (or whichever email app you are using).

3. Prevent new apps from automatically showing on your home screen by using App Library, which is available on devices running iOS 14 and later. App Library is an excellent place to store applications that are rarely accessed. When you download a new app, it will automatically be added to your home screen every time you do so. If you would rather that it went straight to the App Library instead of filling up your home screen, click to Settings > Home Screen, and then pick 'App Library only' under the 'newly downloaded apps' area. This will prevent your home screen from becoming cluttered with apps that have recently been downloaded.

4. View all of your apps in a list By default, App Library will automatically organise your apps into folders for you; but, if you would prefer to view them in a list, all you have to do is pull down on the screen while you are in App Library, and all of your apps will be shown in alphabetical order.

You have the option to search using the bar located at the very top of the screen, or you can scroll fast to the app you want by clicking the very first letter of the app's name in the column located to the right of the screen.

5. Add widgets to your home screen You will be able to add widgets to your home screen beginning with iOS 14 (and later versions). To add them, simply press and hold an app icon on your home screen for a few seconds, then select the 'edit home screen' option from the context menu. Alternately, if you want a way that is a little bit faster, just press and hold an empty place on your home screen.

Now what you want to do is locate the widget you want to add by tapping the + sign in the upper right corner. Scroll all the way down until you reach the very bottom of the page, and then select the app from the list to view a list of all the apps that you have installed that support them. Now select the size of widget you desire, and then press the 'Add Widget' button that is located at the bottom of the pop-up window that has appeared.
