Pakistan is one of the few countries located at the heart of Asia that has made a name for itself in the various fields comprising sports, natural beauty, and science. Our country Pakistan despite being a developing country does not have any shortage of performances and achievements in comparison to any developed nation. Here are some of the most gracious facts that you should know about Pakistan.

1. Provider of largest hand-sewn footballs.

During the days of British colonial rule, they became inpatient concerning the waiting time involved in the shipment of football orders, so they started local repairs for the various punctured balls.

This resulted in the launch of a successful sports industry in the city of Sialkot, which makes 40 to 60 million footballs in a year, making up 50 to 70% of the world’s football’s total production. The Sialkot industry has over 200 football factories.

2. Home to 2nd Largest Salt Mines among the world.

Pakistan has the world 2nd largest salt mines known as Khewra Mines, which contribute 325,000 tons of salt which is extracted per year. The Khewra mines are known to have been discovered by King Alexander’s army when their army’s horses started to lick the salt while their troops slept, which resulted in the astonishing discovery of the world’s 2nd largest mammoth size Khewra salt mine having tunnel areas covering over 40 km of length with even unique mosque build inside the mines. The mines being major tourists spot, are visited by 250,000 people every year.

3. World largest Sized Deep Sea Port.

Pakistan country has a great advantage due to its position among various nations as it will become the center of trade in the upcoming years due to collaboration with China for its CPEC project enabling Gwadar port in Balochistan province to become one of the leading deep seaports among the world.

The Gawadar port will act as an important port for trade towards western China and neighboring nations that do not have access to sea for international trade by giving access through the strait of Hormuz route.

4. World’s largest Cultivated Forest.

The country of Pakistan is home to the world’s largest human cultivated forest, the Changa Manga Forest, which is spread over 12,423 acres of land. The Changa Manga forest was launched and planted by British people foresters in the year 1866. The Changa Manga forest was named after two dacoit brothers.

5. Home of World’s Largest & Oldest Civilization in the region.

Pakistan country is home of one of the world's largest and oldest civilizations known as Indus valley civilization which flourished around the delta and Indus river.

The Indus valley civilization is known to be one of the oldest known civilizations, leaving behind various relics, fossils, and construction forms that are well preserved today around various museums.

Along with the Indus civilization, the Mesopotamian and ancient Egyptian civilizations are known to be from the old world societies, which were most widespread.

The Indus civilization consisted of various well-planned and established cities comprising urban water supply & drainage systems, public baths, and large buildings believed to be government building systems. The Indus valley peak population is believed to have been 5 million, contributing to local handicrafts and various metallurgy.

6. Home of World’s Largest Volunteer Ambulance Service.

Pakistan country is home of world’s largest volunteer ambulance service, the Edhi Foundation, which has been in service since the year 1997. The Edhi foundation service has its headquarters in the city of Karachi and provides 24-hour services volunteer emergency services comprising various services like free health care, orphanage, drug rehabilitation, shelter for homeless, disaster relief, and adoption services. The Edhi foundation now operates over 300 service centers in Pakistan.

7. Home of World’s Highest Polo Ground.

Pakistan country is home to the world’s highest polo field, located at 3700 meters in height. Balti Price Ali Sher Khan initiated the traditional game polo.

The Shandur Polo tournament Festival which is held between the local teams, has been held since the year 1936. Foreign tourists and visitors pay their visit to enjoy the various show festivities of dance, celebration, and folk music.

8. Home to Three Highest Mountain ranges and 2nd highest mountain K2.

Pakistan country is home to the famous 2nd highest mountain peak Godwin Austin or K2 being part of the great Himalaya mountains or Karakoram mountain range which goes all the way to China and touches India too. The world’s third-highest mountain Tirich Mir is also found in Hindu Kush range of Pakistan.

Therefore, making Pakistan country home to three world’s highest mountain ranges comprising Hindukush, Karakoram, and the Himalaya mountain range, makes it an attractive destination for adventurous mountaineers and tourists interested in winter sports.
