‘Yes!’ to a Green Removal

If you are a follower of the ‘green living’ concept there’s no reason not to stick to it while moving. After all, the environment has to be constantly taken care of instead of just randomly choosing what appeals to you in the cause of protecting it from harms. Isn’t that true?

If you are a follower of the ‘green living’ concept there’s no reason not to stick to it while moving. After all, the environment has to be constantly taken care of instead of just randomly choosing what appeals to you in the cause of protecting it from harms. Isn’t that true? When moving, you’re not the only one who’s troubled; the Earth as a whole suffers from the decisions humans make, as well. This negative impact can be and has to be minimized, if not stopped, somehow. Giving your contributions when relocating is the least you can do. Read on to get familiar with the non-environmentally-polluting methods and the solutions that can be applied. And as removals are done relatively frequently, this will be a great chance for people who are about to move and are interested in green living to nicely combine these two activities. The suggestions might look as something small, but they will still serve as a good guidance and can perfectly come into use.

‘Yes!’ to a Green Removal

Avoid Using Newspaper

Old newspapers may seem like a cheap option when packing your kitchen utensils, but this is not considered a green wrapping method. The ink on them will make your dishes and glasses very dirty so that you may have to rinse them multiple times in order to wash all the dirt away. And that happens to the water you use – it’s unnecessarily wasted when all this can be avoided. There is a special recycled packing paper that can be used for the purpose, which is definitely the better choice.

Make Your Own Packing Peanuts

This might sound strange, but popcorn will make a great substitute of the typical packing peanuts people use as cushioning material. You have to know that the latter are not degradable, which hints for something not eco-friendly. Popcorn (with no butter, of course) is a good green alternative, so you may try it out (for packing, that is).

Smart Packing Is Mandatory

When you pack, you have to be smart about it, meaning that you should take only what is needed and part with what can’t be used anymore. Also, smart packing refers to being able to utilize the space you have in a single box and thus as a whole in the moving truck later. You’ll use fewer boxes and you’ll save money because of that. The items you’re ready to leave behind might be recycled, at least the ones that are liable to it. The other ones you can give away or sell on a garage sale. Disposal should be the last option.

What Kind of Boxes?

The answer is recycled or used ones. Nowadays, internet opens up many opportunities and buying used boxes online is gladly one of them. This way, the same boxes can be reused several times meaning that they will find a kind of a second life serving someone in need of them. They won’t be carelessly thrown away, new ones won’t be bought, trees will be spared, or at least you won’t be the one encouraging their cutting down. Boxes made out of recycled materials are also a convenient green option. Consider reselling them after they’ve fulfilled their purpose.

Biodiesel Fuel Is the Right Choice

When choosing a moving company, make a research in order to find one that uses biodiesel for its removal vehicles. Most of them use regular diesel which is not exactly the most environmentally friendly kind of fuel and it also releases hazardous gases. Biodiesel, on the other hand, is eco-friendly and doesn’t have the negative effect that diesel has.
