How Mosquito Day started history

First of all, it should be known that Mosquito Day (World Mosquito Day 2021) was not named to tell mosquitoes to be good, but was kept so that on this day it can be told how dangerous these mosquitoes are for us. Mosquitoes are carriers of many diseases. Today, people take many measures to avoid mosquito because they know that a small mosquito can put a person to death, but there was a time when mosquitoes remained a kind of mystery. People were unaware of how dangerous this tiny mosquito could be.

A disease like malaria was pushing people to the cheeks of time, but it was not known what is the real cause of malaria. It was on August 20, 1897, when the British Dr. Ronald Ross brought this fact to the world that malaria is caused by mosquito bites. At that time it was extremely important information for the world. From that day, 20 August was celebrated as World Mosquito Day i.e. World Mosquito Day. On this day people are made aware about the diseases caused by mosquitoes.

How Dangerous are Mosquitoes?

‘Look at the small wounds should be serious’ This is absolutely correct in the context of mosquitoes. A mosquito kills more humans than any other animal in the world. It is said that a shark fish kills as many mosquitoes in a day as it does not kill humans in 100 years. According to statistics, different types of diseases spread due to mosquito bites and millions of people lose their lives every year due to these diseases. Most people die in African countries due to these mosquitoes.

Both these diseases are spread by the bite of mosquitoes.

Which Mosquitoes are Dangerous?

Just as we humans are only human to mosquito, similarly to us also mosquito is only mosquito. Just like mosquitoes do not know that we humans have divided ourselves according to religion, caste, form, color etc. First of all, many of us do not even know about male mosquito and female mosquito. The mosquito that sucks our blood doesn’t actually suck but sucks blood. Yes, female mosquitoes do the work of sucking the blood of humans so that they can lay their eggs.

World Mosquito Day 2021 Theme

This year amid the coronavirus pandemic, the theme of World Mosquito Day 2021 is “Reaching the zero-malaria target”.7 hours ago

Mosquitoes are not only divided into male and female, but they are also divided on the basis of diseases. Aedes mosquito is the cause of diseases like Chikungunya, Dengue fever, Filariasis, Lymphatic, Yellow fever, Zika fever, Rift valley fever. At the same time, malaria, and lymphatic filariasis, a disease spreading in Africa, are spread by a mosquito called Anopheles. Apart from this, Culex mosquitoes spread diseases like Japanese Encephalitis, Lymphatic Filariasis, West Nile Fever. Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are slowly expanding. It is believed that by the end of this century they will expand in large numbers.

How do Mosquitoes Spread Disease?

Mosquitoes also have a way of spreading disease. The food of female mosquitoes is blood, which they feed on by biting humans and animals.

On the other hand, male mosquitoes do not bite, but supplement their diet by eating flower pollen or other suitable sugar source. The female Anopheles mosquito is considered the main carrier of malaria. There is also a fixed time to cut them. These Anopheles mosquitoes are active between sunrise and sunset and bite during this time.

These mosquitoes do not bite at night. On the other hand, the Aedes mosquito bites mainly before sunset or in the evening. Culex mosquitoes differ from the rest in that they are active throughout the night. These mosquitoes can bite anywhere inside and outside the house during the night.

The serious problem is that the mosquito population is increasing rapidly instead of decreasing. According to a report by Oxford University, due to climate change, by 2050, almost half of the world’s population will be affected by mosquito-borne diseases.

Mosquito Repellency is Also Harmful for Health

Now, when mosquitoes are so dangerous, they should be driven away, but the problem is that the materials available in the market to drive away mosquitoes are as dangerous as mosquitoes. According to the researchers, the chemical pyrethroids found in mosquito repellent material have an effect in the ‘sodium channel’ of the body. Due to its effect, the flow of sodium ions increases which can be harmful for the body.

Mosquito repellency is also harmful for health!

Researchers exposed mice to incense sticks containing D-allethrin and observed a decrease in their lung cells and an increase in blood flow. Actually mosquito repellent incense contains aromatic and fatty hydrocarbons which are produced by the burning of wood sawdust, dyes etc.

present in the tablet. Due to which the hair follicles of the respiratory tract of the mice used began to weaken, abnormal cells began to form and structural changes in the protective cells of the lungs. The same effect can happen on the human body as well. There have been many such cases when people have died due to sleeping in a closed room after burning such mosquito repellent.

World Mosquito Day 2021: So, What is the Solution?

Actually, mosquito repellent is not a sufficient way to avoid mosquitoes. On extermination, they will come back again, that’s why there should be some way so that mosquitoes do not come. This will happen only when you remove the mosquito breeding environment from yourself. Mosquitoes always thrive in dirt, so don’t let the dirt spread around you. Do not allow garbage to accumulate in the house. Keep old garbage cans clean. Get the gutters cleaned from time to time. Keep changing the water from the cooler used in the house.

Do not allow water to stagnate anywhere near your home. Always try to wear full clothes when going out of the house so that mosquitoes do not bite you. Keep doors and windows closed in the evening. By doing this, mosquitoes can be prevented from entering the house. If you want to avoid the outbreak of mosquitoes, then keep the area around you clean.

Mosquitoes can Also be Driven Away from Things Present in the House.

It is not that you have to take a spray or quail from outside to repel mosquitoes, you can also drive away mosquitoes from many things present in the house. Camphor is useful in repelling mosquitoes. Close the doors and windows of the room and burn camphor for 10 minutes, then see how these mosquitoes run away. The strong smell of garlic is also useful in repelling mosquitoes. You can apply garlic juice on the body or you can sprinkle it. Mix ajwain powder in mustard oil and soak the pieces of cardboard in it and keep it at a height in the room. Mosquitoes will not come from this.
