Water Disputes

A river is simply a stream of water flowing on the surface of the earth and is a major component of surface water. Compared to groundwater, rivers are fast regenerating and easy to obtain, so they are widely used in various aspects of human production and life, such as providing water for production and life, as well as economic values such as shipping and irrigation.

Because of this great role, the world is now full of international disputes about rivers, such as the Nile water dispute.

The Nile River is the mother river of Egypt, bringing Egypt a suitable land for survival, and now most of the Egyptian population lives in the Nile Delta area, depending on the Nile water to survive, so the Nile water resources directly affect the livelihood of 100 million Egyptians. This forced the Egyptians to pay attention to the protection and utilization of the Nile River.

But helplessly the Nile is not owned by Egypt alone, it is an international river, flowing through many countries in Africa, and Egypt is in the lower Nile, so to maximize the use of the Nile, Egypt and the upstream countries have water disputes.

In the case of Egypt, it can be seen the advantage of having the world's big rivers alone. If a big river, the whole basin is located in one country, then there is no need to share water with other countries. But the world's great rivers are owned by large countries alone, because they have to have a wide basin, long distance, and large runoff characteristics, take the length, the length of the world's great rivers is generally more than 4,000 to 5,000 kilometers, the area of small countries simply can not accommodate, which is the reason why many of the world's great rivers are international rivers. So is there a country in the world that has the world's great rivers alone?

The answer is naturally yes. First of all, China. China is one of the countries with the most rivers in the world, with many large rivers, and our country is also the birthplace of many large international rivers. According to statistics, China has 1,500 rivers with a watershed area of more than 1,000 square kilometers, many of which originate on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as the water tower of Asia, is the birthplace of many large Asian rivers, such as the Yearlong-Bonanza, Lancing, Kinshasa, Yangtze, and Yellow rivers. Among them, the Yangtze River and the Yellow River are the only major rivers in China.

The Yangtze River is 6,387 kilometers long, with an annual runoff of 960 billion cubic meters, and its mainstream runs from west to east through 11 provincial administrative regions in China, in addition to many tributaries, radiating north and south, flowing through eight provincial administrative regions in China, with a total basin area of 1.8 million square kilometers. The entire basin is located in China, so it is the world's largest river owned by China alone.

And the Yellow River is China's mother river, 5464 kilometers long, with 58 billion cubic meters of runoff, basin area of 750,000 square kilometers, although it can not be compared with the Yangtze River, but also the entire basin is located in our country, belongs to the world's largest river owned by China alone. In addition to the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, the Yearlong Sportsman River, the Great Kinshasa River, the Lancing River, and so on are international rivers, not owned by China alone.

Second, Russia. Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of area, spanning two continents, Asia and Europe. The largest river, the Volga, is 3,692 km long and is the longest river in Europe. Russia's major world rivers are located in the Asian part of the country.

Three big rivers are distributed in the Siberian part of Russia: the Obi, Yenisei, and Lena rivers, all running from south to north and feeding into the Arctic Ocean. All three large rivers have the characteristics of long distances, large runoff, and extensive basins, although only one is owned by Russia alone.

This river, called the Lena, is 4,400 kilometers long, originates on the western shore of Lake Baikal, has an annual runoff of 540 billion cubic meters, has a basin area of 2.49 million square kilometers, and is located entirely within Russia. The other two major rivers, although flowing mainly through Russia, the upper reaches of the Obi River originate in our country, the Eris River, which then flows through Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia. The Yenisei River originates in Mongolia, and 97% of the river is located in Russia, so strictly speaking, only the Lena River is owned by Russia alone.

In addition to these rivers, other big rivers in the world are more than 4,000 km long, but basically, they are international rivers. The Amazon, for example, is not only a long distance but also has a wide basin, with the whole basin belonging to seven countries, including Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. There is also the Congo River, which is also an international river. It is worth mentioning that of the Mississippi River, with a total length of 6020 kilometers and a basin area of 3.22 million square kilometers, 98.5% of the basin area is located in the United States, and a little in Canada, so strictly speaking, it can not be said that the Mississippi River is owned by the United States alone.

These are the two countries that own the world's largest rivers alone, so are there any other countries? Welcome to add.
