Amidst concerns of dwindling freshwater resources and a backdrop of an ever-changing global climate, this island nation decided to challenge the status quo and look inwards, or more precisely, downwards - to its wastewater.

Africa's Resilience Amidst Crisis: A Struggle for Survival and Hope
Africa, a single word laden with complex imagery, evokes a narrative of a people grappling with adversity. The continent's populace stands inadequately safeguarded against external upheavals triggered by natural calamities, adverse climate conditions, wars, and conflicts. These multifaceted predicaments have sparked a dichotomy of reactions; while some take offense at the media's portrayal of Africa as besieged by myriad issues that cripple its capacity to secure food and nutritional stability for its citizens, others see a distressing pattern repeating itself annually.

How the Sahara is going to turn green again
In ancient Greek mythology, there exists a tale called "Phaethon and the Sun." This narrative follows Phaethon, the young son of Helios, the god of the sun. Each day, Phaethon would embark on a journey across the sky in his chariot, bringing warmth and vitality to the Earth. Driven by a deep desire to prove his father's divinity, Phaethon visits Helios' temple. After confirming their familial relationship, Helios, wanting to grant his son a favour, allows Phaethon to make a request. Acted impulsively, Phaethon boldly asks to personally take control of his father's chariot and guide it across the heavens. Despite Helios' attempts to dissuade him, his promise compels him to relinquish control to the determined Phaethon. However, as soon as Phaethon takes charge, he loses control of the chariot, causing it to veer off course. Recklessly, the chariot hurtles through the sky, descending dangerously close to the ground and scorching the Earth's surface. According to Greek mythology, this catastrophic event resulted in the bleaching of Libya's hills into desert, the retreat of the Nile, and the darkening of the Ethiopian people's skin, Although this tale is purely mythical, it subtly suggests a more significant truth: the deserts of Libya and other Saharan countries were not always the desolate wastelands they are now.

The bond between a young girl and a polar bear
Ariana was just seven years old when she visited the Arctic Zoo for the first time. She had always been fascinated by polar bears and had begged her parents to take her to see one. As they walked past the different enclosures, Ariana could barely contain her excitement. However, it was when they reached the polar bear enclosure that she was completely mesmerized. She was taken in by the majesty and grace of the bears as they twisted and turned in the icy water. Amidst all the bears frolicking, Ariana's eyes met with the most gorgeous creature she had ever seen. He was twice the size of the other cubs and had thick white fur. He looked at her with his dark, intelligent eyes, as though he sensed her curiosity. In an instant, Ariana knew that this polar bear hid a world of secrets that she was instinctively drawn to. For several weeks after her family's visit to the Arctic Zoo, Ariana could not forget the polar bear she had seen. She dreamed of being able to see him again. As luck would have it, a few months later, her dad informed her that they would be going back to the Arctic Zoo. Ariana was bubbling with excitement, as she anticipated her meeting with her polar bear. The day of their visit finally arrived. As they approached the bear's enclosure again, she saw the same beautiful polar bear she had fallen in love with six months before. Ariana's eyes met his, and without realizing it, she approached the enclosure. As she reached out to stroke the bear's nose, he nuzzled his big furry head into her small hand. In that moment, something inexplicable happened. For Ariana, the bear's bulky white frame dissolved, and she saw only his eyes and her own; their connection transcending all boundaries and species. The bear and Ariana's bond grew stronger with every visit. They would spend hours together, playing and bonding, as though they were the only two beings on the planet. The bear would listen intently to her stories as though he could understand her. As a child, Ariana was teased by her peers and even her family members. They made fun of her because of her fascination with the polar bear. They couldn't understand how a human being could establish a bond with a wild animal. Even when her parents wanted to take her away from the zoo, she begged and pleaded. Every time they raised the polar bear topic, she would launch into another ode to her friend and why he was so special. The polar bear and Ariana's bond continued to grow through the years. Whenever she visited the zoo, the bear would recognize her, and they would spend quality time together. Their conversations were never spoken, but the bond they shared was unmistakably strong. Whenever Ariana was down or disappointed, she would find solace in her polar bear. The moments they spent made her feel loved and understood in a world where she was often misunderstood. Years later, things changed for Ariana. She got a job in another city and was too busy with work to visit the zoo regularly. She missed her friend but hoped that he was doing well and that one day they would catch up again. One day, she heard devastating news - her friend had passed away. Her heart was shattered in a way that she had never known before. The bond she shared with the polar bear was so profound that she felt like she had lost a brother. She could not process that her friend was gone. The memories of their times together came back to her in vivid detail. She cried for days, months, and years. The bond between the polar bear and Ariana was not something that many people understood, but it was real and authentic. The experience of loving someone who could not speak or understand you, but who felt your presence and returned your love enriched her life beyond words. Ariana felt grateful to have experienced what she did in the form of her friend, the polar bear. Though the polar bear was no longer physically present, Ariana felt reconnected with him every time she visited the arctic zoo. She would pause and remember him, and his memories would wrap their arms around her. Even though he may be gone, the bond between the young girl and the polar bear will forever remain strong.

Drought conditions that brought little rain this summer are one factor; another factor is Rising temperatures at least in parts of Canada that's according to scientists with the World Weather Attribution study. Researchers measured how much climate change influence wildfires that raged in Quebec between January and July; The kind of intensity of Fire season that we've seen is twice as likely to occur these days as it would have been without global warming-without human induced global warming study did not include this week's fires, but the authors say there's a general Trend we can expect to keep seeing these conditions that promote fires to keep on increasing becoming more frequent becoming more severe: Government authorities are warning people to stay indoors in some areas- hazardous smoke blankets the country; travelling as far as the United Statesbut for many evacuees it's news of when they can return home that they're desperate for more information . on this from Louisa Osborne DW's climate reporter: Welcome Louise! With a patchy coat and eyes that held a mixture of weariness and hope, he navigated the city's streets like a silent observer of the human world—a world that often overlooked the stories of those who couldn't voice their perspectives.
