Changing Rainfall Patterns in East Africa.
Climate change, which leads to low agricultural productivity, tragic losses of crops and livestock, and worsened food insecurity and water scarcity, has been the major challenge faced by rural farmers in Africa. The adoption of proper adaptation measures to climate change has become inevitable for people who depend on agricultural production and subsistence farming. Climate extremes resulting from climate change have made many African rural farmers more vulnerable as many of them have insufficient adaptation strategies and limited access to financial resources (Rahut et al., 2021; Trisos et al., 2022; Ayanlade et al., 2023), and the situation is unlikely to become better.

Adaptation Measures for Coastal Communities Facing Sea Level Rise in Africa
Coastal areas are very sensitive to climate change due to sea-level rise leading to negative impacts such as coastal erosion. The impact of sea-level rise is increased by coastal developments, land use change and population growth, and causes societal problems such as increased salinity of groundwater and soils, the necessity to migrate and loss of infrastructure. Developing countries are generally more vulnerable to coastal changes due to their limited capacity to prevent and absorb the related effects. To stimulate coastal adaptation in developing countries it is important to evaluate different adaptation strategies and identify opportunities. Potential adaptation strategies in coastal areas include hard structures, beach nourishment, ecosystem restoration, retreat, zoning and building codes.

Threads of Change
In a bustling city, Sarah stood in the fluorescent glow of a grocery store aisle, her hand hovering over a rack of t-shirts. She sighed, torn between the vibrant but cheaply made options and the muted, slightly pricier sustainable choices. It wasn't just a t-shirt she was choosing; it was a decision that reached far beyond fashion.

The bond between a young girl and a polar bear
Ariana was just seven years old when she visited the Arctic Zoo for the first time. She had always been fascinated by polar bears and had begged her parents to take her to see one. As they walked past the different enclosures, Ariana could barely contain her excitement. However, it was when they reached the polar bear enclosure that she was completely mesmerized. She was taken in by the majesty and grace of the bears as they twisted and turned in the icy water. Amidst all the bears frolicking, Ariana's eyes met with the most gorgeous creature she had ever seen. He was twice the size of the other cubs and had thick white fur. He looked at her with his dark, intelligent eyes, as though he sensed her curiosity. In an instant, Ariana knew that this polar bear hid a world of secrets that she was instinctively drawn to. For several weeks after her family's visit to the Arctic Zoo, Ariana could not forget the polar bear she had seen. She dreamed of being able to see him again. As luck would have it, a few months later, her dad informed her that they would be going back to the Arctic Zoo. Ariana was bubbling with excitement, as she anticipated her meeting with her polar bear. The day of their visit finally arrived. As they approached the bear's enclosure again, she saw the same beautiful polar bear she had fallen in love with six months before. Ariana's eyes met his, and without realizing it, she approached the enclosure. As she reached out to stroke the bear's nose, he nuzzled his big furry head into her small hand. In that moment, something inexplicable happened. For Ariana, the bear's bulky white frame dissolved, and she saw only his eyes and her own; their connection transcending all boundaries and species. The bear and Ariana's bond grew stronger with every visit. They would spend hours together, playing and bonding, as though they were the only two beings on the planet. The bear would listen intently to her stories as though he could understand her. As a child, Ariana was teased by her peers and even her family members. They made fun of her because of her fascination with the polar bear. They couldn't understand how a human being could establish a bond with a wild animal. Even when her parents wanted to take her away from the zoo, she begged and pleaded. Every time they raised the polar bear topic, she would launch into another ode to her friend and why he was so special. The polar bear and Ariana's bond continued to grow through the years. Whenever she visited the zoo, the bear would recognize her, and they would spend quality time together. Their conversations were never spoken, but the bond they shared was unmistakably strong. Whenever Ariana was down or disappointed, she would find solace in her polar bear. The moments they spent made her feel loved and understood in a world where she was often misunderstood. Years later, things changed for Ariana. She got a job in another city and was too busy with work to visit the zoo regularly. She missed her friend but hoped that he was doing well and that one day they would catch up again. One day, she heard devastating news - her friend had passed away. Her heart was shattered in a way that she had never known before. The bond she shared with the polar bear was so profound that she felt like she had lost a brother. She could not process that her friend was gone. The memories of their times together came back to her in vivid detail. She cried for days, months, and years. The bond between the polar bear and Ariana was not something that many people understood, but it was real and authentic. The experience of loving someone who could not speak or understand you, but who felt your presence and returned your love enriched her life beyond words. Ariana felt grateful to have experienced what she did in the form of her friend, the polar bear. Though the polar bear was no longer physically present, Ariana felt reconnected with him every time she visited the arctic zoo. She would pause and remember him, and his memories would wrap their arms around her. Even though he may be gone, the bond between the young girl and the polar bear will forever remain strong.
