Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to human activities, primarily the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Several factors contribute to global warming:

1. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: The most significant factor is the release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun and prevent it from escaping into space, leading to a warming effect. Major sources of these emissions include the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas), deforestation, and industrial processes.

2. Deforestation: Cutting down forests reduces the planet's capacity to absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, contributing to increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Additionally, when forests are burned or cleared, they release stored carbon into the air.
