Human looks are influenced not only by genetics but also by the environment in which they live. Many people may think that people like Anonymous Man (about 1.7 million years ago) and Caveman (about 30,000 years ago), who are very far away from us, do not look like modern people as a matter of course, but people from hundreds of years ago should look just like modern people, right?

The actual situation is not necessarily. 2019, British archaeologists recovered a more than 600 years ago, man's appearance chart, the man's bones from the Aberdeen Art Gallery underground in the Scottish region of the United Kingdom, in 2015, the construction work of the museum so that many skeletons were buried deep underground for a hundred years were found, more complete human skeleton up to 60 or more.

The body skeleton of the man chosen for restoration is more intact and somewhat older compared to the others. Archaeologists named him Skeleton 125 (SK 125 for short) and released some information about his life to the public. According to the study, SK 125 was probably not a native Aberdeen, and he would have lived on the islands in earlier years.

SK 125 specific age of death may still have errors, but he must have lived to 46 years old, a veritable middle-aged uncle. However, this uncle's height is average, about 1 meter 57 to 1 meter 67, of course, he lived in the era of Europeans are generally not high, in 1936 the average height of a 20-year-old French man are only 1 meter 68.

Archaeologists have dated the skeleton of SK 125 and measured that he lived in the late Middle Ages, 1050 at the earliest, and 1410 at the latest, which is equivalent to the period of the Chinese Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty. To explore what humans were like hundreds of years ago, archaeologists decided to use state-of-the-art facial reconstruction techniques to restore SK 125's looks.

The theory of using skulls to restore looks was proposed as early as 1877, except that it was not implemented at that time. Later, this technology became more and more mature, in addition to sculpture restoration, painting restoration, and oral restoration, computer restoration has become the most technical restoration method, China also introduced it in the 1990s and restored the appearance of ancient people such as Ca Ca, Lady In Chou.

This time, SK 125's appearance recovery is not difficult, as long as the digital simulation and data comparison, and then analysis the SK 125's facial soft tissue adhesion, etc., you can restore the appearance of SK 125 lived in the Middle Ages. The restored SK 125 is bald and can be seen to have very little hair on his head.

And his appearance is not very similar to modern Scots, it looks as if there is some mysterious force squeezing all his features in the center of the face, resulting in the cheekbones appearing extra large. Archaeologists said that SK 125 suffered from severe dental disease during his lifetime, with the loss of his lower teeth, worm teeth, and other problems.

With the medical level at that time, SK 125 could not be properly treated. The dental disease also affected his looks, making his mouth extra compact. His forehead lines are deep, his brain is smooth, his ears have a little "wind", the lower part of his face is square, and his neck is very short, obviously does not meet modern aesthetics.

In fact, since the Industrial Revolution, the standard of living, food, and clothing of Europeans has changed significantly, and their looks and height have also changed, although not to the extent that the world has changed, but improved. SK 125's appearance recovery proves that the looks of Europeans in the Middle Ages may be very different from what we see today, good looks, not only depend on genetics but also on survival conditions.
