What Is A Vocal Top Story Worth?

Introduction

I have probably covered this in other posts, but I started to think would I rather have a Vocal Top Story or the eight hundred and forty reads that would also pay me five dollars for my story?

The Choice

Actually we can have both, a Vocal Top Story can clear eight hundred and forty reads, but the Top Story Bonus is immediate, whereas the reads take time.

Although I am a well-read publisher on Vocal, I seldom get many coments from other Creators (thank you if you are one of my regular commenters, I really appreciate that).

I only have five stories that hit the five dollar mark from reads. None of these were Top Stories and they don't even have many Vocal Hearts:

You can they have taken a few years to hit those levels (the Moorcock one was republished).

So a lot of reads can show longevity and worthiness of what you have published. A Top Story shows that Vocal moderators like you.

Once you get a Top Story it may then generate enough traffic to get you on the Leaderboard, although they don't count interactions from non-V+ members which means that a lot of the reads and comments are dismissed by Vocal.

Conclusion

A Vocal Top Story gives you an immediate return. Reads take significantly longer.

I would prefer to get both, but that is unlikely to happen.
