Dostoyevsky's Karamazov Bros: verbose, it drags at times.

Ponderous philosophical debates explore the labyrinths of characters' minds.

Enlightening bursts of brilliance. Dramatic showdowns, existential questions.

Impressive peaks amidst literary fog.

Subtle wisdom mixed with verbose wanderings. It engages, exhausts, stirs.

A paradox of wearisome genius.

Anti-Polish bias, anti-Semitism mar masterpiece.

Might have to check it out.

Still better than Crime and Punishment, IMO. Dostoyevsky has programmed the Russian soul for the doom and gloom and those of us who want to break the cycle read Tolstoy and Grin.
