I wrote an acrostic about various levels of mathematic courses, but not sure that it worked the way I wanted. Here is a critique of what mathematics taught me. We all started with what is known as arithmetic where we learn about sets and counting leading into how to add, subtract, multiply and divide then moving on to fractions, decimals, percentages and proportions and ratio and probability. Oh yeah, we also learn some basic geometric shapes.

As we move along in our mathematical education there came along courses where letters were stand ins for numbers like solving for 'x' and 'y' and figuring factors and factorials and absolute values. Moving on to another phase learning about givens and proofs, shapes, spheres, cones in detail and measuring angles, lines, rays with a protractor and don't forget about measuring circumference of various kinds of circles. Then all of a sudden we well some of us moved on to more advanced forms of math like Trigonometry and Calculus learning more about sines and cosines, tangents, factorials, all sorts of graphing, conic sections, etc. In learning all these facts along with the vocabulary of the specific math one could become an engineer whether chemical, electrical or civil along with several other types of professions delving in the need of mathematics.

I am a person who really likes to read and write and to share what I learned with all my education. My page will mainly be book reviews and critiques of old and new books that I have read and will read. There will also be other bits, too.
