Oasis

Introduction

There is no doubt that Oasis are successful and popular and have done a few songs that I like, but theuy are hardly original or groundbreaking. I am in a small minority who could not be bothered with an Oasis gig if someone gave me free tickets.

What I Think Of Oasis

The Gallagher's are pair of annoying, mouthy Mancs, who just seem to be a successful Beatles tribute band. The trailetr for not going out sums Oasis up perfectly.

The album "Stop The Clocks" which the band compiled themselves had a cover was designed by Sir Peter Blake, best known for his design of the sleeve for the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It contains what is in my opinion their best song "Aquiesce", which I have performed myself.

Then the borrowed Stevie Wonder's "Uptight" for "Step Out" and had some argument about crediting Stevie and so put it on the "B" side of a single.

Having said that when they issued "Whatever" it was pointed out that it was very similar to "How Sweet To Be An Idiot" by Neil Innes so they gave him a credit for that.

So basically I find their personalities annoying, some of their music is good but mostly very derivative.

They also pretented they were unaware of the effect of dynamic pricing.

The Oasis ticket sale controversy involved standard standing prices more than doubling from £148 to £355, leading to widespread public backlash, a regulatory investigation, and subsequent changes to ticketing transparency rules.

Conclusion

I do feel that Oasis are incredibly overrated, but I also know that I am in the minority. I have played several of their songs live because they are crowd pleasers, and if you can please a lot of people, then you are likely to be successful.

Maybe I have missed it, but barring people paying fortunes for gig tickes I seldom hear people talking about their music.
