A few examples give an idea of the criminals who have committed heinous acts of mass murder against their fellow Americans. Their crimes have traumatized and devastated the lives of their victims and their families. They have also left a stain on American society as a whole.

Here are some of the worst mass murderer criminals in U.S. history:

Wall Street Bombing: In 1920, an unknown assailant detonated a horse-drawn carriage filled with 500 pounds of iron and 100 pounds of dynamite outside the J.P. Morgan Bank in New York City. The bomb killed 38 people. The assailant was never identified and never caught.

Bath School Disaster: In 1927, Andrew Philip Kehoe used his position as the Bath Elementary School's volunteer handyman to plant explosives near the Michigan school. After killing his wife at his farm, he went to the school and set off the explosives, which killed 37 children. Then Kehoe killed six more people, including himself and the school's superintendent, when he drove his truck filled with dynamite up to a group and detonated it.

Ted Bundy: Ted Bundy raped and murdered dozens of young women during the 1970s. Bundy was executed for his crimes in 1989 after spending ten years on Death Row.

John Wayne Gacy: John Wayne Gacy raped and murdered more than 30 young men and boys during the 1970s. He was executed in 1994. After 14 years on Death Row, he was executed by lethal injection in 1994.

Jeffrey Dahmer: Jeffrey Dahmer raped, murdered, and cannibalized 17 young men and boys during the 1980s. While serving a life sentence, a fellow inmate beat Dahmer to death in 1994.

Oklahoma City Bombing: In 1995, Timothy McVeigh detonated a 4000-pound ammonium nitrate bomb in a truck bomb parked under the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building daycare center. The massive explosion killed 168 people. The authorities executed McVeigh by lethal injection in 2001.

The Columbine High School shooters: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were two high school students who killed 12 classmates and one teacher in a mass shooting at Columbine High School in 1999. After the shootings, the two teenagers killed themselves.

9/11 Terrorist Attacks: On September 11, 2001, small teams of terrorists hijacked four planes flying over the Eastern U.S. They then crashed two planes into the Twin Towers Buildings in New York City and another plane into the Pentagon Building in Northern Virginia. The fourth plane, intended to attack the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., it is believed, crashed in a Pennsylvania field after passengers fought back. Not counting the 19 terrorist hijackers, 2,977 people lost their lives, most of them in New York. All the terrorists were part of al-Qaeda, which Osama bin Laden ran from Afghanistan. They are all still in custody.

Virginia Tech Massacre: In 2007 Seung-Hui Cho building killed 27 students and five teachers on the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Afterward, he killed himself.

The Aurora Theater Shooter: James Holmes was a gunman who killed 12 people and injured 70 others in a mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, in 2012.

Sandy Hook Massacre: 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot 20 children and six adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. After the murders, Lanza killed himself.

The San Bernardino Shooters: Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were a married couple who killed 14 people in a mass shooting at a holiday party in San Bernardino, California, in 2015.

Orlando nightclub shooting: In 2016, Omar Mateen went to the gay Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and started shooting, killing 49 people. He took hostages, but a SWAT team stormed the nightclub and killed Mateen.

Las Vegas Country Music Concert: Stephen Paddock killed 58 people when he fired on a country music concert in Las Vegas. He fired his weapon from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay resort.

Uvalde Elementary School: 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, United States, killing 19 children and two teachers in 2022. Law enforcement personnel eventually killed Ramos but were criticized heavily for their slow response.

The list above is not all-inclusive by any means, unfortunately. And sadly, horrific crimes such as those are committed regularly.

Conclusion

While these criminals are some of the worst in U.S. history, they are by no means the only ones. Over the years, America has seen countless other murderers, rapists, and terrorists who have committed unspeakable crimes. The victims of these criminals have suffered unimaginably. It is important to remember these criminals' victims and keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
