A woman was pronounced dead following a car hitting a pedestrian in downtown Denver on Saturday afternoon.

The Denver Police Department reported the crash on social media platform 'X' at 12:17 p.m. The crash happened in the 1900 block of Larimer in downtown Denver, police said.

At the time, police cited delays in the area and that one person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The crash involved a motorist and a pedestrian, police said.

A woman was later pronounced dead, police said on Sunday morning.

The driver remained on the scene, police added.

The crash remains under investigation.

A man is in custody for the attempted murder of his mother, who is currently in the hospital with serious injuries, according to a spokesperson from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, reports Denver Gazette news partner 9News.

Just after 11 a.m. Saturday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office reported a "heavy police presence" on East Smoky Hill Road and said the stretch between South Biscay Circle and South Danube Street was closed. Approximately one hour later, the sheriff's department said there had been a "family disturbance" in the 5600 block of South Biscay Court that was over.

The spokesperson for the sheriff's office said deputies were dispatched to a residence after a 911 welfare check call was made earlier that morning. When deputies arrived, they found a 53-year-old woman bleeding in front of the home. She was taken to a hospital with "very serious injuries," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said deputies found the woman's son, a 29-year-old man, in the backyard of the home and tried to get him to surrender, but he refused. After calling in support from other agencies, the man surrendered "without incident" after about an hour and a half of negotiations, according to the spokesperson.

The man was taken into custody on one count of attempted murder and one count of first-degree assault, the spokesperson said.

No information was shared about the nature of the woman's injuries or the disturbance itself.

The Denver Police Department responded to three different shootings within one hour on Sunday morning, leaving one man dead and multiple others injured, police said.

In total, four people were sent to the hospital Sunday morning in three separate shooting incidents, according to police on social media platform 'X.'

The fatal shooting occurred at 12:28 a.m. off the 4700 block of E. Evans Avenue. Two people were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said at the time.

A man was later pronounced dead, police said, adding that no arrests have been made in this incident.

Just five minutes prior to the Evans shooting, Denver police responded to a shooting off the 4200 block of Morrison Road, according to police. One person was transported to the hospital with

non-life threatening injuries, police said, adding one person was taken into custody.

At 1:20 a.m., another shooting was reported in the 1700 block of W. Mississippi. There, police said, a man was transported to the hospital with "serious injuries."

No arrests were made in the latest shooting, police said.

All shooting investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers

On June 18, 2023, a juvenile was shot in the chest while riding an ATV in Colorado's Pueblo West. Months later, shooter John Kosovich has been sentenced.

Kosovich, a Pueblo West man in his 60s, was originally charged with 2nd-degree assault for shooting the child in the chest, ultimately sentenced to 5 years of probation, as announced on March 7.

The investigation into the incident revealed that the juvenile was riding an ATV on an easement near Platteville Boulevard and Littleton Drive in Pueblo West when the shooting occurred.
