This story is truly one of the craziest I’ve read in a long time. You’re introduced to a woman by the name of ‘ Tammi McCreary’, a mortgage broker who ends up falling in love with a con-artist at a party in 2008. Eric Perteet is the name of a man who tricks his soon to be wife Tammi into believing he’s a fully schooled, trained, ER doctor; a lie that only one true manipulator could pull off.

Eric originally lived in Chicago but made his way into the city of Atlanta, Georgia, where he was given the opportunity to meet his beloved, Tammi McCreary. In fact, Tammi isn’t the only person this pernicious liar would fool because according to the true-crime documentary ‘Who the (BLEEP) Did I Marry’ Eric has had a serious past of pathological lying. With his attractive, breathtaking smile, and ability to sweep women off their feet, he had everything he needed to be the master of deception. And being that his life back in Chicago wasn’t a positive one with bad checks and warrants, he would go as far as disguising his entire identity.

“I thought I had the perfect marriage,” Tammi McCreary said after discovering her ‘perfect’ marriage and husband wasn’t that after all. Eric said he would go back to studying medicine, and soon by surprise, got a job at a local hospital. Tammi explained she would drop him off at work and always saw him wearing scrubs with an ID badge. But the truth would soon crush her heart. Perhaps you figured Eric was just a heartless, malicious cheater, but there’s far more to the story than that. This welly plaid ‘Doctor’ wasn’t a doctor after all. Instead, he would be seen hanging out in waiting rooms and doctor lounges to hit on other women. Eric was also said to have had two sons which he claimed were deceased, and in the midst of his relationship with Tammi, found out his 12-year-old daughter “committed suicide”. It turned out later however that the children were alive and well.

Once Tammi came to realize everything she once knew about her husband was a lie after coming across numerous documents like fake funeral forms, she would find herself immediately heartbroken.

“I just felt compassion for him and just wanted to be there for him,” McCreary explained.

But it turned out Eric’s ex-wife had a similar story to Tammi’s. In 2001, Eric married a woman in Chicago after just two weeks of dating her.

“I thought he was my dream guy,” Eric’s ex-wife mentioned in the documentary “He was very nice looking, It was something about him that drew me in” But their newly begun relationship would eventually come to an end.

Eric told his former wife that he built a touch screen computer, in which he would be offered a $2.5 million deal at a huge major company. But she would soon discover it was nothing but lies and that Eric was nothing but a pathological liar.

Fast forward years later on May 19, 2008, Eric is finally arrested by Piedmont Hospital officials and thrown into the Fulton County jail due to identity fraud and acts of impersonating a doctor.

This story is surely a hectic one. I find it crazy how the strongest red flags weren’t evident between these two women. This story shows that not everyone is who they may claim to be, not even your closest companion.

But while Eric spends his time in jail after putting on a scheming disguise for so long, Tammi has chosen to live life free of men and happily single.
