Modi announced his relationship with the famous actress Sushmita Sen, which sent netizens into a frenzy – so much so that the brother of Lalit Modi was also unaware of the romance until he tweeted about it.

The special court of Mumbai had issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of the former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi in 2015 for his involvement in a money laundering case that was registered through the Enforcement Directorate.

Clearly, nobody had even imagined him dating the famous actress and former Miss Universe. While the businessman clarified that they aren’t married just yet, he hopes “that too will happen one day”.

Sushmita isn’t the first woman in Modi’s life. Lalit Modi was married to Minal Modi in 1991. She passed away in December of 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Minal’s ex-husband’s misdeeds caused him to be imprisoned in a Saudi Arabia jail at the moment when she was expecting. She gave birth in London and later moved to Delhi.

As per reports, Minal reportedly befriended Modi’s mother, Bina, during her time in Delhi. Minal reportedly met Lalit Modi frequently. But, when they married each other in 1991, much emphasis was put on the reality that Minal was 10 years older than Lalit.

The couple had one daughter named Aliya in 1993. They also had Ruchir, their son, in the year 1994.

Sushmita Sen, 46, confirmed her relationship with Lalit Modi a day after his big announcement on social media. In an Instagram post, she talked about her split from model-actor Rohman Shawl in December last year.

However, many people are calling Sushmita Sen a gold digger which we believe is highly problematic. She has been in the limelight and has experienced fame since her early years, owing to winning the title of Miss Universe in 1994. She is a woman who follows, ”I buy my own diamonds, I don’t need a man for that,” her words from an early interview.
