We've all heard the stories and even seen remake movies about some. But do you know the story? The facts? Here is a list of only 3 of the most evil serial killers known.

1. The Zodiac Killer

The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in Northern California from the years of the late 1960s to the early years of the 1970s. His real identity still remains a mystery. His murders occurred in Benicia, Vallejo, Lake Berryessa, and San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969, where four men and three women were targeted.

How did he get the name "Zodiac Killer"? He got that name from a series of taunting letters and sent them to the local Bay Area press. These letters contained four cryptograms also known as ciphers. Out of the four letters, only one was solved.

The San Francisco Police Department closed the case on April 2004, due to not having enough evidence. But later reopened the case March 2007. The case remains open in Napa County, Vallejo, and Solano County. The California Department of Justice has kept the case file on The Zodiac Killer open since 1969.

The Zodiac Killer claims to have murdered 37 people, but investigators have agreed only on seven. Two of which survived. Here's the ones confirmed:

David Arthur Faraday, 17, and Betty Lou Jensen, 16 were shot and killed within the city limits of Benicia on December 20 1968.

Michael Renault Mageau, 19, and Darlene Elizabeth Ferrin, 22, were shot in the parking lot of Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo on July 4 1969. Michael survived the attack but Darlene was pronounced deceased among the arrival of the hospital.

Bryan Calvin Hartnell, 20, and Cecilia Ann Shepard, 22, were stabbed at Lake Berryessa in Napa county on September 27 1969. Bryan survived the attack with eight stab wounds to the back. Cecilia passed away from her injuries on September 29 1969.

Paul Lee Stine, 29, was shot and killed in the Presidio Heights neighborhood in San Francisco on October 11 1969.

There were others, but evidence really proves the attacks were by The Zodiac Killer.

2. Donald Henry Gaskins aka Pee Wee

A little back story: Donald Gaskins didn't have a good childhood. His mother, Eulea Parrott didn't pay attention to him. Didn't care about him. Many of his step fathers beat him. When Donald was a year old he drank a bottle of kerosene and which caused convulsions until the age of three. He also suffered nightmares. He got the nickname "Pee Wee" because he was small for his age.

Donald didn't even know what his first name was until his first appearance in court from a brief crime spree from him and a few of his fellow class dropouts. The crime was they gang raped one the dropouts sister and committed many robberies. They were arrested after a witness who survived a hatchet assault and was able to point them out to police. Donald was sent to a reform school.

While in the reform school he was regularly raped by his fellow inmates. He escaped from there got married and voluntarily returned to complete his sentence and was released at the age of 18 in 1951.

He was later arrested in 1953 and charged with attempted murder after he attacked a teenage girl with a hammer who he claims was insulting him. He was sentenced six years in the Center Correctional Institue. And once again was raped and "owned." He later gained his bones after he killed the most feared man in CCI, Hazel Brazell. His reward, sentenced another three years. From there he became the attacker instead of being the victim. He later escaped in 1955, he hid in the back of a garbage truck and was on his way to Florida. He started working with a traveling carnival. He was re arrested and remanded to custody and got paroled out in August 1961.

3. Tsutomu Miyazaki

Tsutomu Miyazaki, also known as The Otaku Murderer or The Little Girl Murderer.

He was a Japanese serial killer, cannibal, and necrophiliac. He abducted and murdered four young girls in Saitama and Tokyo Prefectures from the years from 1988 to 1989. He also did vampirism and preservation of their body parts.

Between August 1988 and June 1989, he mutilated and killed four young girls, ages between four and seven. After he murdered them, he molested their corpse. He drank one of the girl's blood. And even ate half of the girls hand. Giving him the name "Little Girl Murderer," Saitama Prefecture had very few crimes against children.

When he was working, he was a mild mannered young man. But when he wasn't working, he would randomly pick his victim. He would write letters to the families talking about the murders. Police discovered that the victims and the families would all receive phone calls, just him breathing. And if they didn't answer, the phone would ring for about 20 minutes.

August 22 1988, the day after his 26th birthday, Mari Konno, a four year old girl, vanished while she was playing at a friend's house. After the father couldn't find her, he contacted the police. Tsutomu led Mari into his Nissan Langley, and abducted her. He took her to the west side of Tokyo, parked his car under a bridge in a wooded area, where he then sat beside for a half an hour before he killed her. Afterwards he molested her corpse, and left her body in the hills near his home. He also took her clothes and left. He waited for her body to decompose before returned to remove her feet and hands, which he stored in the closet. Everything was discovered after his arrest. He charred what bones he had from her body in his furnace and ground them into powder and later sending that to her family. A long with several of her teeth, photographs of her clothing and a postcard which read, "Mari. Cremated. Bones. Investigate. Prove."

This happened with 3 other girls. He was later then arrested. Then hung on June 17 2008. He was 45 years old. He was arrested in July 23 1989. His photo is below.
