The Tragic Murder Of Yolanda Dillion

Brandon Jacobs stabbed Yolanda an Uber driver for no reason

By Rare StoriesPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Yolanda Dillion, 54, of Marrero, Louisiana, was a quiet woman who had worked for the New Orleans Police Department for ten years as a budget analyst. According to local media reports, she spent the last few years caring for her sick mother.

Dillion had begun driving for Uber as a method to supplement her income, though it is unknown how long she had been with the ride-sharing firm.

Ms. Dillion picked up the killer in central New Orleans just before 3 p.m. on December 8 and took him to a Travelodge on the Westbank Expressway in the Harvey neighborhood on Thursday, according to the sheriff's office.

Brandon Jacobs allegedly stabbed the driver many times from the back seat when they arrived at the motel.

He then returned to his motel room and posted the harrowing footage to his Facebook account, according to Sheriff Lopinto. It has since been removed.

Ms Dillion was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead. A short time later, deputies apprehended the culprit.

The stab wounds immobilized her almost immediately, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto, who, together with NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, addressed the media on the incident.

When questioned why he did it, Jacobs said he "just wanted to kill someone."

Basically, his confession claimed that he woke up in the morning and determined he was going to kill someone and that that was going to be his day, Lopinto told reporters.

Sheriff Lopinto told reporters that Mr Jacobs allegedly informed investigators that he originally meant to kill an Uber driver who picked him up at the Travellodge.

When he realized he'd need a transport back to the motel, he hailed Ms Dillion's car through the ride-sharing app..

"We directly questioned him, 'How did you pick her?'" Lopinto explained. "'I didn't pick her, Uber picked her,' he said." She was the random person who picked him up that day."

According to Lopingo, Jacobs exited the car and just walked away calmly after the stabbing.

According to NOPD( New Orleans Police Department) Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, Dillion was a valued member of the department.

"Our team is taking it very seriously. She will be missed much. She kept to herself. She was humble. She was a gentle giant."

Jacobs, who informed police he is originally from New Orleans but had returned to the area after residing in Seattle, gave a detailed confession.

Yolanda Dillon's Mother

Yolanda Dillion carefully planned her life. She lived with and cared for her mother Edna, who is in her 80s.

Dillion, a breast cancer survivor, was a constant whirlwind of activity, engaged in her church, working as a fiscal budget analyst with the NOPD during the day, attending classes to get her PhD in sociology, and driving Uber during her "down" time to make extra money for Christmas gifts for family and children at her church, St. Paul the Apostle in New Orleans East.

No one will mourn Dillion more than her mother, Edna, who was compassionately cared for by Yolanda and who fought back tears to speak about her daughter.

Even though her life had been meticulously planned, she died as a result of a random act committed by a man who reportedly awoke Thursday in the morning with the intention of killing someone.

In the video below, Yolanda's mother sheds tears.

“My only child,” she said. I ain’t have no other. When your child leaves in the morning, you expect to see them come back. You can’t just take somebody’s life, somebody who not doing you nothing.”

Her mother stated she had no clue Yolanda was picking up fares, but Yolanda was clearly doing everything she could to help everyone she could - children at the church, police officers, and, most importantly, her mother.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.
