the unknown case

This story I was made aware of by a youtuber named Kendall Rae. She has an amazing channel and podcast so check her out. Let's get to the story.

The story is about a lady by the name of Angelika Graswald. She came in the America in 2000 and worked as a nanny. She met and fell in love with this guy named Vince. They got engaged months after they started dating. This all went wrong in April of 2015. They went kayaking in the Hudson. At sunset the weather has gotten bad when they were coming back from the island they kayaked to. He didn't wear a life jacket but insisted that she did. The water got choppy to the point it was hard to paddle. Vince fell into the water and we wasn't able to get back into the kayak. Angelika called 911 for him. When rescuers they found her in the water and rescued her but Vince's Kayak and body were gone. When her and a detective went to the place Vince drowned a day or more later she confessed to the detective she wanted him to drown. She also confessed to messing with his kayak.

Angelika was interrogated for 11 hours. During this she denied she ever said that she killed him. She said that she confessed because she was just saying what she though they wanted to hear. She did also tell investigators that Vince added her to his life insurance policy. She said that Vince had asked her to do things she wasn't comfortable with. Angelika said watching Vince drown made her feel free. The detectives asked her several times why she kill him and she said she didn't, she just didn't do anything to save him. Asking people things over and over again is sometimes used as a technique to get a confession. She acted like she was relieved to see him die. She even said "I wanted him dead now he's gone." They couldn't find his body at first so they thought maybe she killed him in a different way. One of Vince's guns was missing so they thought he was shot. They finally did find his body but with no bullet hole. A grand jury indicted her and accused her 2nd degree man slaughter and 2nd degree murder. They think she removed his drain plug but they realized it won't drown a kayak or a person.

They gave her the option to go to trial or to plead guilty. The plea wasn't a normal plea, she was just agreeing that she may have had something to do with it or she didn't do enough to save him. She plead guilty to involuntary man slaughter. She took the plea because she didn't want to risk spending life in prison. She was sentenced to 4 years in prison but only served 2 and half years. She also 16 months parole. She could cash in his life insurance policy but his family is fighting that.

She was not painted well in the media. They thought that she did it. She was painted as an evil heartless person. I could see how people could think she is guilty. I think she's innocent but she could have done something to save him possibly.

So I like doing these types of posts. True crimes interest me. I do not disrespect the victim's families or the victim themselves. If you have a case or person you want me to cover please email me ([email protected]). I will try to get to all of them. You may know of a case I don't.
