A New Beginning
You stand on the platform, your auburn locks blowing behind you in the breeze. Your face is serene, as if you do not have a care in the world. You always carry yourself with an effortless grace. You carry your emerald purse today, the one with the brass locks. I smile to myself when I see you. I watch through the window as you step onto the train and float down the aisle, your dainty Oxfords silent against the bustle of your fellow passengers. I sit on the chair across the aisle from you, watching as you slip your little notebook from your coat pocket. A man in a checkered business suit slides into the seat across from you, a grin spreading across his smarmy face as he catches a glimpse of your lovely frame. He reaches up to his ear to turn off his Bluetooth before attempting to engage you in conversation. You peer up through your lashes, artfully curled, murmuring your thanks at his flattery before you disappear into your reading. You are pensive as you read, chewing the end of your pen with those pearly whites as you ponder the page. Suddenly you glance up at me and hurriedly I turn away, pretending to read my novel. I am captivated by you, but I wish that it was not so obvious. When it is safe to look back at you, I see that the businessman has spread his legs over the edges of his seat, forcing you to turn to one side to avoid touching him. He has begun an overly loud telephone conversation, complete with emphatic hand gestures. I immediately despise him. I spend the remainder of the train ride alternately scowling at his rudeness and catching glimpses of you watching the world go by outside the window.

A New Life
Mary left work on a Thursday afternoon of what seemed to be a normal day at the bank. Looking forward to the weekend plans she had with her husband, she mindlessly got out of the taxi and continued her short walk home. As she approached her apartment, she saw all kinds of people gathered around. Police officers, investigators, and a few bystanders. She hurried over to see that the door to her apartment was wide open.

Dad's Secret Stash
He stood as a pillar of the house and community. A saintly essence overseeing the neighborhood. “To Serve and Protect” Etched into the door of his squad car. By day, a beat cop on the stroll. By night, a loving family man, and caring neighbor. One cold autumn night, a lighting storm struck the tall cherry across the street. Awoken by the roar of thunder shaking the house, the snapping of branches, and the crackles and crashes that follow.

Freezing
Kristina awoke and was immediately aware of being incredibly cold. She raised, or rather tried to raise her head but it wouldn’t move. She tried again but failed. Then, she became aware of the fact that she was somehow stuck to the ground. The right side of her face felt completely numb…much of the rest of her did too. Her vision was also blurred. After a few moments, she finally managed to lift her head, slowly peeling her cheek away from the ground as she did so.

The Morality Game
It had been a brutal day at work so far. Jack had been late to his morning meeting for no particular reason, except for lack of charisma and a caffeine deficiency. This led to him inevitably being chewed out by his boss, thus making himself the day’s honorary target for the loud, bulging man to take out all his frustrations on.

Once, there was a little girl who lived with her dad. Her dad was very poor but, One day a young man came to her door. The man said “ Congrats you just won $20,000, Mia.” “ How?” Mia asked the young man shyly. “ Well you found my little black book.” “ Wait do you mean this little black book” she said as she held up a small black book. “ Yes, that is the one.” The young man answered happily. “ here is your money and thanks for my book” The young man said as he ran off with the book.Mia looked back at her dad and said”I can buy a house with this money. She showed him That she wrote over it in an erasable pen.So she erased it and gave it To the man And apologised for taking it. She learned his name was Paul. She also asked “Wait how did you know I had the book?” He answered “With the book Tracker. I got it when I got my job working for the government.” “ You see it is a little blue gadget that tracks the info so I followed it to your house. I just can not give it to my boss.” He continued. “Why not?” Mia asked. Then a couple of guys in suits walked up and the smallest in the middle screamed” YOU ARE FIRED!!!” and snached the book and ran off. Mia said we have to get that book.” “Yes!” said everyone in agreement. They all started running after the guys. It was a rescue mission they had to get the book earth depends on it. “I'm gonna guess that was your boss.” Mia said “Yeah that was him.” Paul shouted “ Keep running!” Said Mia's dad. “OK” They all said in agreement. “We are almost there, they are right in front of us. Dad you go left, Paul right I will get front and back” Mia said as she started running faster. Paul's old boss was running out of breath quickly. So was Mia but she was not going to let that stop her plan. They cornered Paul's old boss. They had nowhere to go. “ Hand over the book now!” Mia said to the smallest guy. “ NEVER!!!!” He screamed.Paul took the book and started to run back to Mia's house with the book. “ No they will find it here. Let's take it to our new house in the woods. It is hidden with branches.” Said Mia's dad and Mia together. Paul's old boss Flew high in the sky to see if he could find Paul, Mia and Mias dad. But then his jetpack ran out of fuel and he plummeted to the ground. Luckily his guards caught him. They set him down and said “ I QUIT!!” and walked away. Paul's boss Marty was walking after them. But when he got there his guards had already started their own food truck. It was called Twin time tacos. Marty asked if he could have a taco and the twins said in usion “WE ARE CLOSED!!” and flipped the open sign to closed. Marty walked away. He needed that book. He was not really evil; he was put under a spell by megamind, The evillest part human part robot ever. Marty started to cry. He was so sad because nobody liked him. The tears broke the spell and Marty was free. Megamind had no more power.

I got a phone call last week, announcing my parents died in a car crash. Even though I've been estranged from them for more than a decade, the death of any family member is hard, regardless of your relationship with them. And this was two of my family members. The ones who raised me, taught me, and shaped me into who I am. Of course, all of that resulted in me disagreeing with them more often than not, which definitely wasn't their intention. But, I'm growing up in a generation who questions everything, including the way they were raised, the ideals passed down, and what we were subjected to at a young age. I learned I needed to give myself compassion before anyone else in order to survive these trying times.

The Killer
I always wondered who my father really was. As a boy, I imagined he was great at playing catch, building sandcastles, flying kites. A stern-voiced, soft-hearted man like Frank the mechanic maybe, or my math teacher Mr. Wilson. One thing I knew for sure, he wasn’t a killer.

He Must Tell A Story He Never Can
It started on a Friday. Heavy, fibrous debris pouring from overcast skies. It looked like ash against the fluorescent glow of undercloud. But when it crossed the horizon, the darker background of trees and buildings revealed its true identity and color. Snow, white as the sky. It kept on until Sunday, covering everything, exaggerating every tree branch and fencepost. Then the sun cut through, bringing the temperature above freezing and the people from their homes. A couple walking in the park called the station to report something resembling a body uncovered by the melting snow.
