Stolen at Birth: Carlina White & Kamiyah Mobley
Two Women who were stolen at births.
This is a story of two women who were kidnapped on the day they were born. They had lived their whole lives with different names believing they have happy normal lives until years later after realizing they were stolen at birth by the women who call themselves “mom”. First, Carlina Renae White lived her life as Nejdra "Netty" Nance living in Bridgeport until she solved her case and found out the truth about herself. And, Kamiyah Teresiah Tasha Mobley lived her life as Alexis Manigo living in Walterboro until her “mother” revealed the truth and she and her “mom” took a DNA test showing no match between them.
This is the story of Carlina White & Kamiyah Mobley
Their Abductions
Carlina Rena White was born on July 15, 1987, to her parents: Joy White and Carl Tyson.
When Carlina was 19 days old, her parents took her to the Harlem Hospital Center with a fever. A woman dressed as a nurse sees baby Carlina, she comforts the parents and takes the baby.
Kamiyah Teresiah Tasha Mobley was born on July 10, 1998, in Jacksonville, Florida. Unlike Carlina's parents, Kamiyah’s mother Shanara Mobley had her when she was 16. Her father Craig Aiken was incarcerated at the time she was born. After she was born, A woman dressed in a nurse attire entered the room, assisted and conversed with the mother, and later walked out of the room with Kamiyah in her arms. Employees initially believed that the woman who kidnapped Kamiyah was a member of the Mobley family. Shanara was interviewed later, pleading for the return of her daughter.
Two babies were kidnapped by women portrayed as nurses until years later......
Life as Nejdra & Alexis
23 years after White has been abducted, she and Annugetta Pettway (her abductor who kidnapped her at the hospital) portrayed as her mother lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut. White attended Thomas Hooker School and graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport.
18 years after Mobley's abduction, her abductor identified as Gloria Williams was taking over as her mother. Mobley goes by the name “Alexis Manigo”. She has been living in South Carolina under the name Alexis Manigo and has since graduated from Colleton County High School and had a boyfriend and raised along with Williams other children.
The Shocking Truth
Carlina grew suspicious that her “mother” wasn’t who she said she was, White began researching on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and she soon saw herself in their database. She then reached out to the organization, which put her in touch with her birth parents. In 2011, White took a DNA test and confirmed a match. Her biological parents and her family were thrilled after 23 years that White was alive.
Unlike Carlina, Mobley was already 18 and was ready to apply for a job to save up for college. Mobley would get the job at a local restaurant but the manager needed her social security and identification to get hired unfortunately her “mother” refused to let her find a job because they had any credentials so... Williams had no choice but to tell Kamiyah the truth. The case made national headlines in 2017 after new tips led investigators to Walterboro, South Carolina. Because there were no photographs taken of Kamiyah before her abduction, a computer-generated composite of her was created to distribute to the media. Distinctive features, such as Mongolian spots and an umbilical hernia, were included in reports. Mobley was swabbed, and a DNA sample taken from Mobley after she was born was matched to a swab taken from the potential match. After the match was confirmed, Mobley was described as "in good health but overwhelmed". Mobley met her biological parents for the first time on Saturday at the Walterboro Police Department. The parents were thrilled that Kamiyah was alive after all these 18 years.
After
After Carlina found her biological parents, Annugetta Pettway was arrested and charged with kidnapping and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Upon being reunited with her biological parents, Carlina White's attorney advised her to ask them about the cash settlement from the hospital. Joy White and Carl Tyson both confirmed that most of this money had been spent during the years before their reunion and that a trust fund that had been established was obtainable only if Carlina had been found before the age of 21.
Gloria was charged with kidnapping Kamiyah and interfering with custody. On June 8, 2018, Williams was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the kidnapping of Mobley. Their stories have been told in two Lifetime films. KeKe Palmer as Carlina White and Academy Award-nominated Aunjanue Ellis as Annugetta Pettway in the film Abducted: The Carlina White Story.
And, Kamiyah's film, Stolen by my Mother: A Kamiyah Mobley Story. The film stars Rayven Ferrell as Kamiyah Mobley, Niecy Nash as Gloria Williams, and Ta'Rhonda Jones as Shanara Mobley. Robin Roberts serves as the executive producer. These two women still see their kidnappers despite them stealing their lives from their own families. Carlina has gotten closer to her real family. Mobley has had her ups and downs with her family which is understandable. Both of them have social media platforms. I would put the links on here but Vocal Media has an issue with links so I would say search for yourself.
