In the digital age, community advocacy often happens at the intersection of vulnerability and courage. When leaders within marginalized communities speak up about safety concerns, they aren't just sharing information—they are performing a vital service to protect others.

Currently, advocate Simona Bearcub has taken a firm stand regarding public safety and accountability, and it is a stance that deserves both attention and support.

Here's some information about my dear friend and comrade, Simona Bearcub, who has participated in countless advocacy and activist campaigns alongside myself and many others for many years.

She is a person I've known for nearly a decade and when she calls something out she never does so without ensuring that her findings are found correct, and with lots of evidence.

Simona and I worked closely to help Antonia Commack with the Bring Chanel Campaign and bring awareness to ensure that a Native child was returned to her tribe.

Simona has advocated and saved countless lives in the near decade I've known her.

Simona Bearcub is a Portland-based Afro-Indigenous activist, community organizer, and land defender. A member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, they are known for their advocacy in several social justice spheres, particularly regarding Indigenous sovereignty and queer liberation.

Advocacy & Activism:

Simona has been a prominent voice in movements such as MMIWG2S (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people), reproductive rights, and land defense.

Simona has worked with organizations like MMIW USA and served as a Multi-Cultural Equity and Inclusion Advocate at Portland Community College.

Media & Voice:

Simona frequently appears as a guest and speaker on platforms like the Indigenous Action Podcast and Native America Calling, discussing topics like Indigenous anarchism, "queering" the MMIWG2S narrative, and the challenges of enforcing the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

Identity:

Simona identifies as queer, two-spirit, and an anarchist. Simona is often recognized for a sovereign and unapologetic stance against settler-colonialism and their dedication to grassroots community defense.

Community Work:

In addition to public speaking, Simona has been involved in countless direct actions, such as supporting Shoshone and Paiute elders at the Winnemucca Indian Colony to protect homes from demolition.

Simona is widely recognized in the Pacific Northwest for their efforts to uplift marginalized voices and protect community members through both advocacy and mutual aid.

We must recognize the importance of truth and transparency.

The core of this conversation surrounds the transparency of public figures. Simona Bearcub has recently highlighted documentation and public records concerning an individual known online as @uncagedchristy (Dr. Christy Perez).

The information brought forward involves serious allegations and links to registered sex offender status—records that are matters of public safety.

In any community, but especially those that have historically faced systemic violence and erasure, the ability to vet those in positions of influence is not just a preference; it is a necessity.

When receipts and public registries are shared, it is not an act of malice—it is an act of communal care.

If you're not supporting Simona Bearcub through this, you are on the wrong side of history, and you may as well just go to the predator camp because there's no difference between you and anyone who is apologetic toward any sort of sex offender.

Advocacy is often a thankless and high-risk endeavor. Those who step forward to point out potential dangers often face backlash, silencing tactics, or personal attacks. Supporting Simona in this moment means:

Activists should always prioritize the safety of fellow allies. Acknowledging that the safety of the collective outweighs the comfort of an individual with a documented history of harm.

Upholding Accountability is mandatory in any space where we are dealing with victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking. The perpetrator's feelings do not supersede the victims' need for protection and advocacy - ever.

We must recognize that individuals, regardless of their professional titles or online personas, must be held accountable for their past actions and the transparency of their current status.

Protecting the Vulnerable is the number one duty of any real activist. Ensuring that spaces, both online and off, remain safe for those who look to community leaders for guidance and support is critical to any movement.

When someone comes showing receipts, we have a duty to protect them and ensure the space is cleared of the predator immediately.

In the case of Dr. Christy Perez, the documentation provided via public records and social media highlights serves as a warning.

Public sex offender registries exist for a specific reason: to provide citizens with the information necessary to make informed decisions about their safety and the safety of their families.

By bringing these records to light, Simona Bearcub is ensuring that the community has the full context of who they are engaging with.

We must stand with those who dare speak uncomfortable truths.

Solidarity with Simona Bearcub is more than just a gesture; it is a commitment to a standard where safety is non-negotiable and transparency is mandatory.

When we support advocates who prioritize the protection of the community, we build a foundation where everyone can exist without the shadow of undisclosed harm.

It is time to listen, to look at the evidence provided, and to stand firmly on the side of accountability.

EDITED TO ADD - SIMONA'S IG WAS FALSELY REPORTED AS FRAUDULENT FOR WHISTLEBLOWING REGARDING CHRISTY PEREZ. DUE TO THIS, I HAVE ADDED THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC DETAIL RECORD TO THIS ARTICLE.
