Son Rapes His Own Mother to "Get Back" at Brother

On October 21, 2006, the mother of Gary Helms Jr. of Marshall County, Alabama, called police to report that her son had raped her. The 45-year-old mother was asleep on the couch of the family mobile home when her son attacked her, she stated.

The woman tried to get away from Helms Jr. but he held her down until he finished the attack.

Then 19-years-old, Helms Jr. confessed to police that he raped his mother as payback against his brother. The two had been arguing over a girlfriend, Helms Jr. told police.

Mother Defends Son; Changes Story

Helms Jr. was arrested and charged with rape. After his arrest, other victims came forward, including a 16-year-old teenager and the mother of a young child. Both cases occurred in other counties.

That’s when Helms Jr.’s mother came to the defense of her son. She told reporters at this time that her son did rape her, but only because he was high on drugs at the time.

She went on to say regarding the allegations of sexual assault against other people:

"Gary Dean's not a mean person. He is, he's been accused of a 16-year-old. The 16-year-old that they supposed to be talking about, he was dating for 8 months. She lived with him. He lived with her mother, with her mother, her father. So I don't see how he can be charged, or it brung up to him that he's raped a 16-year-old now," said Helms' mother.

"They're bringing the charge up on him of the 4-year-old. That was proven that he never touched the 4-year-old. He done a lie detector test. And it come, from as far as I understand, it come back, he was not guilty of doing anything to this child," said Helms' mother.

She later changed her story about being raped by her son. She told investigators that Helms Jr. did not rape her but instead, that it was consensual sex between them.

Helms Pleaded Guilty to Incest

The charges against Helms were reduced to incest due to the mother’s refusal to cooperate with the investigation. In 2011, Helms Jr. Pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, however, the judge split the sentence, crediting him for the 1046 days he spent in jail waiting on the trial to begin and ordering the remainder of the sentence to be served on probation. Helms Jr. was also required to register as a sex offender.

My Thoughts

How does a person force another person to have sex with them, ESPECIALLY their own mother? What the hell is exciting about that? I’m glad I do not understand these things; that my mind doesn't work like the minds of most people I write about. It cannot feel good to be such a backward-ass person.

Disregard the rhetorical question, though. The mother defended him THREE times after police charged him with rape, after he admitted to raping her. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So sorry this happened to this woman and that she was not mentally strong enough to allow her son to pay for his serious crime. This would have enabled him to get much-needed help, for both mental illness and drug addiction.
