Background Check

Not much is known about Akinmurele's early life, even though he was

the mother is from the Isle of Man and his father is Nigeria. At the age of six, he moved with his mother to the Isle of Man and was raised by his mother and grandmother.

He was considered a friendly boy at school, but he always had problems. As a child, he suffered from some unspecified mental health problems, but did not mention any major incidents or concerns.

When he was eighteen, he already lived on the mainland and worked as a benefit officer. He increased his income by working at the local Rumors bar as a bartender.

Murders

In October 1998, the bodies of a murdered elderly couple were found at their Blackpool home. Eric Boardman (77) and his wife Joan (74) were found by their daughter after they were beaten to death. A home-made 'cosh' was found at the scene and investigators were able to obtain a fingerprint that matched Akinmurel.

Previously, Jemmimah Cargill, 75, was suspected of having died in a fire in the same resort where the Boardmen lived. However, when detectives found out that Akinmurele not only lived in the resort but also shared an apartment with Jemmimah Cargill, they found that the case was more of a murder than an accidental death.

But it's not over yet. Akinmurele was also involved in the murder

Dorothy Harris in February 1996, back to the Isle of Man. He also died in a fire in his house, and although it was initially considered a horrific accident, it is now considered murder.

Arrest and settlement

Akinmurele was arrested and charged with the murders of Boardman, Jemmimah Cargill and Dorothy Harris. While awaiting trial, Akinmurele was arrested. During this time, he attacked one of the doctors who caused his injuries and threatened several times that he would harm others. He claimed to have committed another murder, and although his story seemed plausible, it was later found that his statement was not true.

Akinmurele seems to show hatred for the elderly, and this, combined with his mental state, leads investigators to look again at similar crimes that have occurred in both places and back on the Isle of Man. They investigated the cases in 1994 and found many people who could be involved with Akinmurele.

Result

Not only has Akinmurele tried twice to kill him, his girlfriend also warned the authorities that he was dangerous to himself and said he did not want to go to court.

During his time in prison, Akinmurele was questioned by several specialists, including doctors and a medical psychiatrist. According to psychiatrist Akinmurele, he says "be upset by the images of his victims," and that was always on his mind.

After a suicide attempt in a segregated unit, Kinmurele was transferred to the prison's health department.
