'Saw flashes in her mirror': Woman watches boyfriend gunned down by roommate after celebrating victim's birthday together, police say

A Nevada man was fatally shot after celebrating his birthday, allegedly by his roommate who was celebrating with him.

When you are killed on your birthday, it just seems fitting that your alleged friend does the dirty work. After celebrating his 37th trip around the sun, Anthony Anderson received fatal gunshot wounds from Jordan Garcia, 26.

An anonymous girlfriend to Anderson pledged to drive home after the two had a few drinks at the Dive Bar in Las Vegas, Nevada. She saw the two leave and argue over how to get home, despite her efforts to say she’d be the designated driver.

She noticed them tussling and saw a flash which she surmised had to be a gun. Later, Anderson would be pronounced dead, allegedly at the hand of his “friend.”

This is a clear-cut case of irrationalism fueled by alcohol. It isn’t the drink that is to blame but the mind behind the one imbibing. That usually begins with someone overindulging. Only damage and destruction can result from all of this. There’s no way the men could have saved themselves from trouble after a point of too many drinks, especially on Anderson’s part.

If they had to reverse the actions, there would be a reckoning. What separates this situation from others is that it could have been prevented with reason. Absent from the course of actions, the two men saw tragedy with one man having his life taken from him.

The unnamed girlfriend had no recourse in any of this. She was ready to go.

But it was 4 am and the men couldn’t hold their liquor, especially Anderson.

When the case is viewed at the level of making an assertion that people shouldn’t drink at all shows the cracks in the argument. There is a line where those ads which say “drink responsibly” must come into focus.

To against this caveat is a serious flaw in the reality of the case behind those who wish to call for Prohibition of alcohol. There are still dry towns throughout the cities and bars that don’t sell alcohol after a certain hour. But these were adult men who drank to recognize the birthday of the man who died. This is a serious way of showing the dangers of drinking in excess and of not listening to rational thought.

The girlfriend announced she’d be the DD and wanted the two men to stop their fighting after calling themselves “brothers” only hours earlier. In all, Garcia and Jane Doe came up with a corpse. In a night that should have been won with a few rounds and some shots turned tragic because of the lack of reason. Their inability or refusal to act as men of the mind who just wanted some recreation and enjoyment should have been placed at a different plane of thought.

Everyone involved should have been able to see the destruction inevitable in this actual scenario. All involved made mistakes in it and there must be people who would argue that all drinking should stop. This would be an error. The way the situation had been handled seems like it could have been prevented.

No one in their right mind would deny the rights of adults 21-years-old and older the possibility of taking in wine and spirits. When occasions like this arise, it’s still a problem regarding the use or abuse of alcohol. In evaluating this whole thing, it’s like looking at a scene from a novel or film. You can kind of see where everything is headed but can’t do much about it.

The question will remain whether everything pointed at Garcia was guilty of open murder or self defense. We shall see what happens after June 9, Garcia’s court hearing.
