Save Melissa Lucio

There are a lot of times I have questioned my gut feeling, turning out to be right all along. I'm no one special but I truly believe that Melissa Lucio may die for a crime she didn't commit.

There are a lot of times I have questioned my gut feeling, turning out to be right all along. I'm no one special but I truly believe that Melissa Lucio may die for a crime she didn't commit.

I'm no judge, nor a jury. However, after watching the Hulu documentary about this case so many things seem off. I truly believe this woman is innocent. I believe she confessed out of fear of never seeing her children again on top of her daughter, Alexandria, who may or may not be the true murderer, taking her place in prison.

She wanted to protect her child in the ways her mother failed to protect her countless times from countless men. Now, this article is strictly my opinion coming from the facts I have learned from the documentary. So much just doesn't make sense.

Back when he case had been fresh a medical examiner testified that poor Mariah's wounds to her body were due to child abuse. However, there was never any proof of Melissa abusing her daughter. All fourteen of her children were witnesses to what had truly taken place within their living conditions. All of the older children told the police that their mother was never abusive. Some even told them that they had witnessed their sister, Mariah, who was prone to falling fall down a flight of steps met with concrete at the end. None of this was mentioned in court and her defense attorney made sure that these children didn't speak at her trial because they were too "unruly".

We also have to take a look at the facts of her defense and the corruption that could have been taking place behind closed doors. Melissa was never able to defend herself in the way that could have saved her. A lot of evidence seemed to be withheld. Information that could have overturned her case was kept secret from the jury.

The DA at the time, Armando Villalobos was deep in his election season at the time. He needed convictions to stay in his position and I truly believe that Melissa was collateral. Her own defense attorney had seemingly been tanking her case by hiding the information that was incredibly relevant. Her attorney had known that her daughter Alex had a disliking towards her sister Mariah. There had even been talk that she possibly had pushed her down those stairs. All of these details were kept from the court. Shortly after Melissa was convicted of this crime her defense attorney had accepted a job at the DA's office making more than others who had been there longer. Years later the DA himself was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for bribery and extortion.

Baby Mariah's health and frequent tripping was never looked into. Regardless of Mariah maintaining her innocence the men interrogating her coerced a confession of hitting her child out of her after telling her she would never see her children again. She told them over one hundred times that she was innocent. Her children who has been with her all day every day also spoke of her innocent and how it was impossible she could have done what she was accused of because they were all together all the time.

This woman's life is at stake. This woman could possibly be innocent. It just doesn't sit right that Texas is the state of pro-life but are so quick to kill a woman with no evidence behind it. The DA may have had an agenda and Melissa may have just been the "example" of what a great case he could make. She will be the first latino woman to be executed. If they go through with this in my personal opinion they will be killing an innocent woman and setting back the justice system even farther than it already has been.

Melissa Lucio lived a hard life. She was touched inappropriately at a young age and not a soul would believe her. Her mother let her down. Her family continues to let her live this nightmare alone. Help save this woman before it is too late.
