During a pretrial hearing on Tuesday, January 17, the defence lawyer informed the judge that the case "is not ready for trial" and that he still needed to speak with Boone and locate subject-matter experts for her defence. Because he had another case in February, the lawyer also requested that the trial be scheduled for April.
A pretrial meeting was scheduled for March 28 by the court, and a trial might take place the week of April 10. The end of January was designated for a status conference. When playing hide-and-seek at their Winter Park, Florida, home, Boone is suspected of murdering her lover, 42-year-old Jorge Torres Jr.,
Who was zipped into a bag and left for hours? Investigators claim that Boone informed them that she and Torres had been playing hide-and-seek and drinking wine when she went upstairs and allegedly fell out of her bed. Her cellphone repeatedly rang when she claimed to have woken up many hours later.
She allegedly suspected her lover could still be in the bag. When she opened it, she saw Torres unconscious and not breathing. Deputies came after Boone dialled 911 and discovered him dead. Authorities claimed to have discovered recordings of Boone filming Torres attempting to escape from the luggage on her phone.
Boone complained to the judge in writing about several issues in December, chief among them the apparent lack of contact from the judge supervising her case or her defence lawyer.
Additionally, she stated that she intended to write to Governor Ron DeSantis about "the mishandling of my case. However, online records show that Boone did not submit a request for a new attorney.

Orange County authorities arrested Sarah Boone, 42, at the time of the alleged murder on February 25, 2020. According to reports, the event occurred at the couple's Winter Park residence.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, investigators earlier said that Boone told them that she and Torres had been playing hide-and-seek and drinking wine when she claimed to have gone upstairs and fallen out of her bed. She said she didn't realise her partner may still be in the bag until she woke up several hours later to the sound of her phone ringing repeatedly.
Authorities claimed to have discovered footage showing Torres attempting to exit the luggage on Sarah Boone's phone (Orange County Corrections). She claimed that when she opened the luggage, she saw Torres unconscious and not breathing. She then dialled 911 before cops came and discovered Torres had passed away.
