The Milwaukee Monster or the Milwaukee Cannibal, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (/dmr/; May 21, 1960 - November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender who killed and dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.[4] His later killings frequently entailed cannibalism, necrophilia, and the permanent retention of body parts, usually the entire or portion of the skeleton.

Dahmer was ruled to be legally sane at his trial despite having been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic disorder. He was sentenced to fifteen terms of life imprisonment on February 17, 1992, after being found guilty of fifteen of the sixteen homicides he had committed in Wisconsin.[9] Later, for a second murder committed in Ohio in 1978, Dahmer was given a sixteenth life sentence.

Christopher Scarver, a fellow prisoner at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, beat Dahmer to death on November 28, 1994.

American serial murderer and sex offender Jeffrey Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960. Dahmer committed 17 horrible male murders between the years of 1978 and 1991. His method of operation included cannibalism, necrophilia, rape, and dismemberment.

According to most accounts, Dahmer had a typical upbringing; nevertheless, as he grew older, he withdrew and stopped communicating. As he neared puberty, he started to exhibit little to no interest in hobbies or social contact, instead turning to exploring animal carcasses and binge drinking. He continued to drink throughout high school, but it did not prevent him from earning his 1978 diploma. The 18-year-old committed his first murder barely three weeks later. That summer, while his parents' divorce proceeded, Jeffrey was left alone in the home. He took the chance to put the sinister ideas that had been developing in his head into action. He volunteered to drive Steven Hicks, a hitchhiker he had picked up, back to his father's place so he could drink beer. Dahmer nonetheless whacked Hicks in the back of the head with a 10 lb dumbbell when he made the decision to depart. Dahmer eventually admitted to murdering Hicks only because he wanted Hicks to stay after dissecting, dissolving, pulverizing, and scattering the now indiscernible remains over his backyard. Before he killed again, it would be nine years.

That September, Dahmer enrolled in college, but his drunkenness caused him to leave early. After that, his father coerced him into joining the military, and from 1979 to 1981, he worked as a combat doctor in Germany. But he never managed to break the habit, and after being released that spring, he returned to Ohio. His father transferred him to live with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin, as his drinking continued to cause issues. By 1985, he was a regular at homosexual bathhouses, where he would take drugs to knock guys out so he could rape them while they were asleep. Despite having been detained twice for indecent exposure in 1982 and 1986, he was simply given probation and not prosecuted with the rapes.

His second victim, Steven Tuomi, died in September 1987. He was picked up by Dahmer from a pub, driven back to a motel, and found there the next morning was Tuomi's battered corpse. Later, he claimed that he didn't remember killing Tuomi, suggesting that he had done it on the spur of the moment while unconscious. After Tuomi, the killings continued infrequently, with four victims in 1990 and two each in 1988, 1989, and. He kept luring unwary guys from bars or asking for prostitutes, who he would then drug, rape, and strangle. However, at this point, Dahmer also started performing particularly gruesome acts with their corpses, continuing to use them for sex, documenting the process with photographs, meticulously preserving the skulls and genitalia of his victims for display, and even keeping parts for consumption.

Dahmer was detained at this time for drugging and sexually harassing a 13-year-old child while working at the Ambrosia Chocolate Factory. He received a five-year probationary term, one year in a work release camp, and was forced to register as a sex offender as a result. After finishing the labor program two months early, he moved into an apartment in Milwaukee in May 1990. There, despite going to his probation officer's scheduled visits, he would continue to be free to carry out four murders that year and eight more in 1991.

By the summer of 1991, Dahmer had started to murder one victim about every week. He developed an obsession with the notion that he might transform his victims into "zombies" to serve as young, meek, and docile sexual partners. He employed a variety of methods, including cutting holes in their skulls and pumping boiling water or hydrochloric acid into their brains. Soon, Dahmer's flat was the source of weird sounds and foul odors that neighbors started to complain about. On one case, a lobotomized victim who was left unattended even managed to make it outside and beg multiple passersby for assistance. But when Dahmer came back, he was able to persuade the cops that the bizarre young guy was only his very drunk partner. Dahmer nearly avoided death for a short while longer because the cops neglected to do a background investigation that would have revealed his position as a serial sex offender.

Dahmer enticed Tracy Edwards into his house on July 22, 1991, with the promise of money in exchange for her services. Dahmer then used a butcher knife to push Edwards into the bedroom within. Edwards managed to break away during the battle and make his way outside, where he flagged down a passing police vehicle. Edwards informed the police that there was a knife in Dahmer's bedroom when they arrived at the residence. The cops ultimately managed to take Dahmer into custody after discovering the images of severed limbs and dead victims in the bedroom.Following a thorough search of the house, they discovered more human remains inside the refrigerator, three more decapitated heads scattered throughout the flat, several pictures of the victims, and more. Seven skulls in total, together with a human heart in the freezer, were discovered in his flat. In his closet, an altar was also built using candles and human skulls. Dahmer confessed and started telling the authorities the graphic details of his killings after being taken into jail.

On January 30, 1992, the trial for Dahmer, who was charged with 15 murders, started. Dahmer claimed insanity as his defense despite the overwhelming evidence against him because of the nature of his profoundly frightening and uncontrollable desires. He was found to be insane and guilty of 15 charges of murder after a two-week trial. He received 15 life sentences, totaling 957 years in jail. He pleaded guilty to the murder of Stephen Hicks in May of the same year and was given an extra life term.

At the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, Dahmer served his sentence. Dahmer professed regret for his deeds and made suicide wishes when he was incarcerated. He also said he had studied the Bible and was a born-again Christian, prepared for his last judgment. He was attacked twice by other prisoners, with the first attempt to slash open his neck only inflicting minor injuries. On November 28, 1994, nevertheless, a prisoner attacked him once more as they were cleaning one of the showers. Dahmer was discovered alive but passed away from serious head injuries while being transported to the hospital.
